Man Nylander’s so good. After Toronto gets bounced by Boston or Tampa in round 1, I wonder if they’d consider a Nylander for Girard swap. I know we’ll need a 2c but wonder what we’d have to add to G to get that done in the offseason.

in no particular order Tyler Weiman, Kent Patterson, Trevor Cann, Vitally Kolesnik, Sammy Aittikalio, Calvin Pickard, Shamil Shmakov, Trent Miner, Martin??? I’m drawing a blank on his last name. Anyone else I’m missing in the last 15 or so years?

maybe it's just me but I think it's unfair to put Pickard on the same grouping as these other. he never became a top goalie, but he did carve out a way better career than the others, be it in the Avs or other teams, NHL, AHL... Pickard has more than 100 games in the NHL under his belt.

I think his inclusion with the others was focused on that he didn't turn into a viable long term option for the Avs,...which is true with all of them. In that regard, it's fair to lump all of them together.

I've looked up what "cheez whiz" is

America shouldn't be a country

I knew they got cheese in aerosol cans, I didn't realise you had it in jars as well.

Honestly as far as shitty cheese goes, cheeze whiz is pretty delicious. Great on toast, or if you need to spike your mac n cheese

It’s true. I used to watch Picks all the time when he was a T-bird. One of my favorite players for Seattle but ultimately he was another failure for us. I was just trying to point out we actually have drafted quite a few goalies in the last 10-15 but none of them have even produced a career back up for us. I still have hope for Annunen but we haven’t had success since Budaj and Aebischer.

i was trying to remember all our failed drafted goalies over the years, but more so in the last 15 years or so..

I feel like we should draft or sign some guy out of nowhere and that he'll eventually become the greatest goalie of all-time to make up for all those misses in some sort of karmatic rectification.

Nah, I don't see them doing that with the guys they already got in the mix on the blueline. Nylander's way too valuable to them anyhow, he's an incredibly versatile forward and he's (probably) their most consistent scorer from the net-front area.

A lot of you think G is going somewhere this offseason but I'd be more than a little surprised if that happened.

Are we in line for karmic rectification with our goalies though? Their drafting of goalies hasn’t exactly been to prioritize trying to get a starter, it’s usually more like they are throwing up a prayer

Jesper Bratt compares pretty well to Nylander over the past two seasons. He's an RFA though. I wonder if it would cost more to pry him out of New Jersey?

Oh I'm definitely talking about fall-assbackwards lucky into a great goalie - I mean, it's gotta happen at some point, doesn't it?

You'll have less chance of getting Bratt out of NJ than Nylander out of Toronto. That guy was the end-all, be-all of the Devils' offensive attack. Not even Hughes. Bratt.

Avs will need to find some diamonds in the rough, much like they did with Burakovsky and Nichushkin. I very much doubt they can snag a top-flight winger this offseason via trade/FA.

They're not really in a position to trade for a Burakovsky at this point. It's hard to see how they don't dip into the free agent pool.

I wouldn't mind Zacha (but as a C) as a similar acuisition to Burakovsky. But I'm not sure the cost. If he's buy low, it's probably worth the risk. But again, do the Avs have the ammunition?

I just don't get how people could be looking at the Devils and think "why wouldn't they trade us Jesper Bratt?"

I just saw a Devils fan make a comment that the Avs might be interested in a swap involving Girard and Severson because the Avs already have Makar and Toews. And if you really want to see these types of comments, filter on the Montreal forum for Girard trade proposals. Absolutely laughable.

They don't have the picks, but they do have prospects teams want.

I would rather not get Zacha. That guy is all over the place--all defense this year, all offense the year before, all garbage the year before that. Plus, he doesn't look reliable enough to be a center, and he's not worth acquiring if he can't be that.

I think Girard gets moved after next season, the team might like to see another season of Behrens first.

I'm pretty sure Avs are gonna draft a d-man with their 2023 1st rounder since they gave up Barron and Helleson, unless Sakic trades it in the offseason for a 2nd line C when they lose Kadri

Ya I don't see G going somewhere, and if it is it will be an out of the blue trade that no one thought of like Bennett for Girard.

Can’t call Miner a failure yet.
