I don’t imagine Naz taking a discount. He already went through basically his entire career at a discount and he seems like the type of dude who’s going to cash in over try to win. Which is totally fine and I don’t blame him, but that won’t happen hereAt What number does it make sense to bring Naz back? I’m definitely leery of paying him after his career year in a contract season, and especially given the fact he’ll be 32.
But with our window being what it is, I’m ok giving him the extra 1-2 years to keep him if he’d agree to a serious hometown discount (say $6-6.5m for 5 years?).
It’s probably unlikely for both sides, but something we shouldn’t automatically discount.
Has JJ passed EJ on the depth chart or does he prefer to shuffle him up with Makar because he's a LD? Especially since Toews has struggled a little lately.
Bednar keeps trying to play EJ on his off side this year, but it's not really something he looks comfortable doing IMO. His reads and timing of when to be aggressive defensively are worse on the left side.
Agreed. As I said it’s probably unlikely. But from Naz’s perspective when looking at the full contract amounts, he may prefer a $6.5m x 5 years ($33m total) with a winning, cup contending team, over a $7.5m x 4-5 years ($30-$37m) with a bottom feeder.I don’t imagine Naz taking a discount. I mean I’m sure Philly would give him ~7 over 6 or 7 years. They’re gearing up to do something really stupid this off-season.Agreed. As I said it’s probably unlikely. When you’re making $30m+, quality of life is probably more important than an extra $3-5m in the long run. If he wants, he can call up Gru and ask how much fun he’s having in Seattle lol.
It’s honestly comical at this point. They’ll just keep throwing big money at the wrong guys with 0 actual plan and a dream to be a bubble team forever. They’ve basically become the dolphins of the NHL.I mean I’m sure Philly would give him ~7 over 6 or 7 years. They’re gearing up to do something really stupid this off-season.![]()
OTT was also reported to be very interested.I mean I’m sure Philly would give him ~7 over 6 or 7 years. They’re gearing up to do something really stupid this off-season.![]()
I think he’d get a good offer from them as well. But Philly will easily give him the best offer imo.OTT was also reported to be very interested.
I wouldn’t expect him to either. It’s his last chance to land a big contract, and he should get what he can.Naz said that he worked hard for his next contract...he's not taking a discount.
Subban would be a waste of time. I'd rather keep one of the Johnsons.
No. He’s done. I’d almost bet anything he’ll be retiring to the broadcast booth after this season.Do you think PK Subban between 1 and 2 million a year, could be a good addition for next year ?
Subban strikes me as a guy that doesn't even want to play hockey anymore and is ready to move onto his 2nd career as a celebrity.
100%.He'll be amazing as an analyst in the broadcast booth. The more guys like him and the less guys like Tyson Nash, the better.
There are some interesting options out there. I'd seriously look into Nick Schmaltz, obviously not an ideal option but he's locked in at a good number and has surpassed 20 goals and has 49 points with a handful of games to go playing on an absolutely atrocious Coyotes team. It'll cost a good future or two, but probably worth it.It will be interesting to see the vision for the second line in the offseason. Since Cs are so costly to acquire, I half wonder if they'll go for the 3rd linish types of Cs and target a W (Forsberg for example). This would also leave the possibility for Newhook to step into that role.
One viable option would be to upgrade the bottom 6. That kind of a makeover would likely require jettisoning Compher, which doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.
Speaking of Nash, heard an interview with Antoine Roussel the other day and he confirmed that what Nash was saying was true. Yote players were actually mad at Zegras, which led to the beating. He'll be amazing as an analyst in the broadcast booth. The more guys like him and the less guys like Tyson Nash, the better.

The nhl doesn’t care about player safetyMcDavid got a broken clavicle for making guys look like fools.
Crosby got a career altering concussion.
Tough titty Troy terry suck it up

I mean the only one of their prospects in a long time that seems to be panning out is Farabee - sounds like Provorov, Konecny, Frost, even Hart, etc., have all stalled in their development, and there's no real top end talent there on offense or defense
The issue is they just keep throwing good money after bad. They traded their first last year for Risto (big lol there), but besides drafting Nolan Patrick at 2oa who didn’t pan out b/c of concussion issues (that one’s just bad luck and not on them), they haven’t drafted in the top 10 since 2011. You can only get away with that for so long.I mean the only one of their prospects in a long time that seems to be panning out is Farabee - sounds like Provorov, Konecny, Frost, even Hart, etc., have all stalled in their development, and there's no real top end talent there on offense or defense
