Tampere is hockey city and their new arena will have over 13k seats in hockey, like hartwall. Plus it will
Have big Casino, hotel in the arena complex, trains stopping inside the arena. The casino will be another main casino of Finland. Live hold em and full Casino service, plus its new so its modern. Also the hockey arena itself will be very modern and build hockey first (stands close to ice ect) so im pumped to see it there.

In helsinki there is so much big happenings, that whc isnt as big deal, but in tampere its biggest thing (also because tampere has long hockey traditions, it is THE hockey town). Also it is way more reachable from Savo or Oulu area and not that far fron Helsinki neither

The capacity will be 11 500 for hockey.

Ok, mind saying where you heard? I read 13500 from somewhere, i think the building company site, but maybe it was for concert.

Also they say there will be 100m high buildings accoring to builder site, probably hotel or housing. Not sure if they are ready in 2022. Any way pumped toto have such complex in Finland, i know where I will go for kalpa away game.

In the first link he wrote it's written "Over 11,000 spectators will be able to watch ice hockey matches at the arena."

My bad, it seems that they just recently changed the capacity to 13 000 for sports events. Great news.

The entire complex is estimated to be completed in 2023 so the tournament feels a bit rushed, though.

That seems a bit odd? Smaller arena, smaller city, not as easily accessible as Helsinki, etc.

Finnish hockey federation(?) wants Finland to play its games on arena that is owned by Finnish people and businesses. Hartwall Arena was sold to russians and the new Tampere arena has been in the discussion of being the new main arena.

Tampere area is the second biggest metropolitan area in Finland and growing rapidly. Also Tampere is actually in a great location in the middle of Finland with train routes avaivable from all around.

Sure, but that doesn't really mean much when the gap between the largest and second largest is so enormous.

Yeah the Tampere Arena is being redesigned atm so that it will be the largest Arena in Finland. Hartwall hold 13400 in icehockey and 15500 in other events so Tampere Arena should be ~ 100 places larger.

Well some old info there, no he found out too that its over 13000. There was stuff about it in news recently and thats where i hears about it

The arena both looks and sounds good, but for what reason is a 13k+ arena needed in Tampere? Feels a bit too big in my opinion, especially with two clubs on that population.

And sorry for sounding nonchalant, but will they even sell out Finland's games in a 13k+ arena? Sure that both Savonia and Oulu are closer, but I doubt that it will increase the attendance drastically. Greater Helsinki has 1,3 million habitants, plus a more accessible airport that makes it easier for international fans to come over.

In comparison, the WJC 2016 had an average attendance of 7174 and that was Helsinki alone. I doubt that it will reach those numbers in 2022.
