Interesting. Im still concerned about what direction Drury is going now. I mean he has cleared out a solid amount of cap space. He also is looking to deal strome and krieder. I just hope that we are gonna get a good deal
The way these teams are acting about the salary cap, I don't see how they can trade Kreider. Better not move 15OA with him in something like the Gostisbehere deal

....I think i'll be reading melt downs on this deal for years to come.

This generations Rick Middleton trade perhaps.

Wowza.
That is a pretty hysterical comment. Buch will be forgotten about when St Louis (and NYR for that matter) misses the playoffs next year.

This place never disappoints. It wants Quinn fired? Done. It wants Gallant hired? Done. It wants Howden traded? Done. It wants Goodrow signed? Done. But now Drury is the worst GM ever?

Why dont we all just wait and see first? Too many knee jerk reactions. Things are never as bad or as good as they seem off the bat.

Drury must have something else planned because the moves he’s made thus far have left a lot to be desired to say the least

No one expected buch to be re-signed. Its the return, not the move.

Quinn fired + 5
Gallant hired +5
Howden traded +20
Goodrow signed +5
Buchnevich fired into the sun -100

Drury is currently net - 65...not looking good!

Like @Edge posted in the Buchnevich thread, is not so much about what we are doing. It's about the cost. Getting Goodrow? Awesome, but that's not a good contract. Trading Buchnevich away? Understandable, the kids need the opportunity to step up and Buch will cost money. But that's an awful return.

If this trend of getting fleeced on contracts and trades continues, it's not going to look good.

I don’t mind Blais. And I liked the Goodrow trade/signing. My issue is the currency that was exchanged. Trading a top-6 two way forward that has chemistry for a 4th liner and a 2nd round pick is crappy value.

we all understand this... but Drury has been shopping Buch for weeks... and his upcoming salary is going to be pretty high... he's not that good either.

Right but here’s the thing Where was buch’s value at? You can set a price but you can’t force anyone to pay it. And you can say well I just won’t trade him. But that was an issue with Gorton. You can get f***ed hard by waiting too long.
His value is that of other top-6 players from previous trades.

Stepan went for a freaking 2nd round pick last deadline. So did Lias Andersson. Mantha went for Vrana, Panin, a 1st + 2nd. Foligno went for a 1st+4th.

. Exactly. I’m fine with the plan but the amount they are paying for bottom six seems very expensive

Not to worry. There’s a method to Drury’s apparent madnesses.

Angling for Eichel?

Only benefit would be putting Laf, Eichel, and Kakko on a line and calling it the 212 line.
