I dont think anyone disagrees. The problem isnt blais by himself. the problem is we traded a guy who basically scored a point per game at even strength, for blais. The second doesn't balance the value even slightly.

Now and future? We didn't give up our youth. Buch would of commanded 7M+ next year. We have Fox, Miller, Laf, Kakko, Zibanejad, Shesterkin, Kravtsov who will need raises in the near future.

You can't pay everyone 6M+.

Why not? Why do we have to see every trade individual and not look at the roster construction as a whole? What you are saying is thinking like a fan. It’s simplistic and easy to label. But creating a competitive team is so much more complex than that. In any sport for that matter.

The roster construction as a whole is the result from the individual moves the team makes. And this individual move was horse shit, anyway you slice it.

When we evaluate this team on opening night, realize it could have been better if Drury managed the situation with Buch more optimally.

There are times when positivity is meaningless. The other thing to keep in mind, blais is an RFA next year... even if he has a fantastic year, and somehow scores 50 points, because he got on the third line here. We NOW HAVE TO PAY HIM!

Well im very nervous about the now.. I had faith in Drury but this trade of Buch has me very concerned about what we may be trading before this upcoming season and for what. I do fear that we will trade our youth for 2 pieces of Eichel.

Buch i agree you cant have 6M + per year but the return in ass, and it has me worried for future trades because its obvious that Drury isnt done putting his mark on this team
