Offersheet timeHow can they fit that and resign Petterson? Lots of retention?
Imagine being a non-playoff team for 4 years and other GM's want to continue to twist the knife. The only way I’d be happy with this Buch deal is if Eichel to NYR was held up by us having to move Buch and no team wanted to do us a favor which is why value was so low. Similar to how no one wanted to do Tampa a favor 2 seasons ago which is why they had to pay a 1st for Goodrow and 2 1sts for Coleman
Another thing to keep in mind is buch is absolutely a pass first player. He deferred from shooting many times the past couple years and after the team pleading w players to shoot more I wonder if that played an additional role in not making a commitment to him long term. The roster is littered w pass first players and that is going to start changing.
I mean it’s very plausible. Stuff like that happens a lotImagine being a non-playoff team for 4 years and other GM's want to continue to twist the knife.
Let's not try to rationalize a terrible deal. He's a good player and the return is bad. The end.
Oh I know this is what is happeningI mean it’s very plausible. Stuff like that happens a lot
I'm not rationalizing it, but I am bringing up another factor in why the team didn't make a long term commitment to him...Let's not try to rationalize a terrible deal. He's a good player and the return is bad. The end.
. Agreed. Look I’m not a huge Buch lover like many are but the asset management is god awful in this trade.Let's not try to rationalize a terrible deal. He's a good player and the return is bad. The end.
They’re spending a shit ton of money they don’t have on these picks. AZ struggled paying staff on time last offseason. How can they just eat Ladd, Eriksson, Roussel etc. like this ?Coyotes for better or worse, have done a heck of a job loading up on draft picks after getting Chayka'd.
Buch is a cap casualty. It sucks but I’m just glad we got any value out of him. Teams know we can’t keep him.
Damn.
He's a good player that was a cap casualty. Other teams knew it and the return reflects that.
He's a cap casualty because of Kreider. He's only a cap casualty because of the other moves Drury is looking to make. We could have easily extended him and traded him at a later time.
Meh, losing Buch really hurts but if Laf, Kakko and Kravtsov can all take steps forward next season we should be okay. This team is gonna suck.
