The only way I’d be happy with this Buch deal is if Eichel to NYR was held up by us having to move Buch and no team wanted to do us a favor which is why value was so low. Similar to how no one wanted to do Tampa a favor 2 seasons ago which is why they had to pay a 1st for Goodrow and 2 1sts for Coleman

Another thing to keep in mind is buch is absolutely a pass first player. He deferred from shooting many times the past couple years and after the team pleading w players to shoot more I wonder if that played an additional role in not making a commitment to him long term. The roster is littered w pass first players and that is going to start changing. The gospel of @Edge has been preaching for months the team would deal out skill and points for players that on paper wouldn't seem equal in am effort to diversity the lineup and we are seeing that take shape

He's a good player that was a cap casualty. Other teams knew it and the return reflects that.

. Agreed. Look I’m not a huge Buch lover like many are but the asset management is god awful in this trade.

They’re spending a shit ton of money they don’t have on these picks. AZ struggled paying staff on time last offseason. How can they just eat Ladd, Eriksson, Roussel etc. like this ?

Buch is a cap casualty. It sucks but I’m just glad we got any value out of him. Teams know we can’t keep him.

Have to imagine he would easily be highly sought after the deadline if he was a guaranteed cap casualty

I'm with all of you that think the return for Buch was weak. But I'm much more intrigued and nervous about what will possibly ensue later tonight so this isn't really bugging me much. This is small fries stuff.
