I’m also really intrigued by C. More so lately. Give Darnold another year. Load up on picks. Build the line. Take Sewell/Slater at 8/9. Take a C at 34. If Darnold sucks, you have all the pieces to make a move for your QB. I know people are saying next years draft sucks for QB but who knows. If I told you Wilson would be #2 last summer you’d call me insane.

To expand on this.

Denver offers the 9th plus next years 1st and more.

Between the run on WR/TE plus QB, you're probably looking at either Slater or Sewell at 9.

If not, you're looking at Smith/Waddle because someone took an OT and left a pass catcher.

Next year you have Denver's 1st. KC is great, SD and Oakland could be sneaky good. Anyone surprised if Denver is the 4th best team in the AFC West?

So you're looking at what, at worst 15 next year? More likely 8-12.

Seattle could easily miss the playoffs. They were not close to as good as their record this year. SF will be better. Rams will be better. Arizona is good.

So you could potentially have something like a top 6 pick (Jets), 9-12 (Denver) and 14-18 (Seattle) next year. Very plausible.

I completely agree with this.

It really is. We say this every year but this is a hugely important draft for the Jets. Douglas needs to do better than last year. He did pretty good don't get me wrong but he needs to do as well as the GM from the Colts Chris Ballard always does.

Colts were a horrible football team just 4-5 years ago. Under Ballard and his great drafting and FA pickups they are now one of the top teams in the AFC and have the kind of team that could knock off the Chiefs or Bills this coming year.

If Douglas can be just 85% of what Ballard is, the Jets will be a good football team in 2 years or so. I think Douglas has what it takes to be a solid GM...now he needs to prove it...this year is crucial as he needs to nail this draft and next year....we'll see. Can't wait till the draft as it will be sooner than we think.
Imagine if Darnold wound up being the jets answer at QB and decided to retire after 6 seasons.

4 picks in the first two rounds next year, good to have those laying around when guys like Diggs and Hopkins have been traded in the past for picks.

Douglas did very well for himself here. That 2nd rounder next year could be a low 40ish pick and a 4th rounder is almost like a 3rd rounder in the NFL. I didn’t think he was getting 3 picks out of Darnold.

SF trades all that for the 3rd best QB in the draft.

How much will they get for Jimmy G?

Yeah I think Joe did good here getting what he got for Sam. You really couldn't have expected more. I was saying the past few days I'd be happy with a 3rd rounder and let's call it a day. For Joe to get a 6th this year and a 2nd and 4th next year...ummm I'm sorry that's pretty dang good return for a QB who never has done squat whether it's his fault or not.

OK we move on and now the 95% chance we are taking Wilson has jumped up to 99.99999%. He doesn't have to be Steve Young but Wilson has to be exponentially better than Darnold was in order for this to work out for the Jets and for Douglas to end up being proven right for not making that deal with San Fran.

Home: Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Football Team, Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings
Road: Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals
17th game (location TBD): Houston Texans

Panthers schedule for the Scoreboard watching Jets.

You already know Darnold is going for 380 and 4 TDs in that game against the Jets.

Been saying 2+4 or 2+5 for a while. Good return, particularly given how the market has recently shrunk.

Good luck to Darnold.

The thing is apparently SF never even called the Jets about #2, the question is if they did call, would he have made that deal and keep Sam?

Apparently word on the street is due to the Niners already knowing the Jets were 1000% taking Wilson, they didn't even bother offering the deal they gave Miami.
