Bodes well for the Giants, I feel like.

This is the first year I have no bloody clue what the Giants are even thinking in the first round. Like, Gettleman has telegraphed every single pick so far up until this year. We have so many ways we can go.

We can go OL (Slater? AVT?). We can go TE/WR (Pitts?). We can go WR (Smith? Waddle? Chase?). We can go LB (Parsons?). We can go EDGE (in a trade-down, hopefully. Philips? Paye? Ojulari?). We can nab Surtain at CB.

About the only slots we won't go are DT and S.

My view is BPA or trade down. Zero reason to draft for need, here.

Plus, there's an outside chance that Mac Jones goes top 10. That would be phenomenal for us. Although maybe we become a good trading partner for someone like Chicago or another QB-needy team if the Panthers don't draft him.

Last year we knew it was OT, but most didn't think it was Thomas, I feel like.

I know it’s not a sexy pick, but I’d have no problem with the Jets taking Creed Humphrey in the 2nd round. He’s tough, smart, and will probably be a ten year starter at center. I wouldn’t be upset if they nabbed him at 34 although they might be able to dip down a bit, get him, and acquire an extra pick. It looks like Wilson is the pick at 2, and I assume they go CB at 23 unless they think someone is a much better value.

Why I wanted to trade down and grab an extra 2.

For Humphries or Wyatt Davis from OSU

Here's how I look at it. If the Jets don't draft a QB then they will trade down, possibly to Denver or Carolina, maybe even to WFT. How many teams are willing to give up a haul to trade up for Lance or Wilson? At this point I don't think any team will trade into the top 10 for Fields Jones or Trask. If the Jags are taking Lawrence and the 9ers are taking Lance then a team would trade with the Jets if they want Wilson or Lance and that will cost a bundle. WFT's offer would have to be substantially higher than the Eagles Fins trade. Either way assume picks 1-3 are Lawrence Wilson Lance. If the Jets traded down with Carolina/Denver I don't see them taking a QB. They can afford to trade out of the top 10 and still land a QB.

So it may be an outside chance but I really doubt it. It happened once in 2018 and QBs going 123 happened once in 1999 (Tim Couch, Donovan McNabb, Akili Smith). Unless you pick the right guy, which is rare, you give up a ton of value by taking sloppy seconds or thirds. I didn't really want Darnold but I liked the jets trading 3 2nd rounders to move up because historically their 2nd round picks have all been awful.

100% that the Jets ruined Geno.

Eh, I don’t think Geno was ever going to be more than a backup or low end starter.

I think Sanchez could’ve put together a solid career. He should’ve stayed at USC another year. A better supporting cast and I think he’s decent.

I really think Sam develops into a better Tannehill. It just won’t happen here. I think he’d be a perfect Big Ben replacement in Pittsburgh. He’ll never be a hall of famer but I can see multiple trips to the playoffs.

Wilson? Who knows. I’m no scout. If he’s the pick then I’m hopeful. At least Douglass is making an effort to put a team around him.

Precisely why I am not a big fan of the Jets taking yet another QB in this draft. I think Wilson will have more tools around him, but I am very wary.

Im not saying Wilson is the guy. I have no idea.

However, you aren’t winning anything until you get the QB so if you don’t think Sam is the guy then you have to keep swinging. If you’re on the clock and you don’t think you have a franchise QB and you think one is on the board then you take him every time.

After the events of the past few days...Jets are taking Wilson....Niners are taking Fields....Sewell isn't even in the conversation...period end of story.

not positive it's Fields. I think it's between a few of the QBs

Saw this on Walter Football. Not sure how true it is but it reminds me of Manziel.

"On the negative side, they say Wilson comes from a very wealthy family and comes across as an entitled, selfish know-it-all - and his parents are a pain to deal with, though that is a common trait among quarterback prospects."

If he's available, I would put money on Slater being the guy.

Sounds like Rosen to me.

He worked as a Door Dash driver using his Mazda 6 . Sounds pretty spoiled to me.

He would drive 10 hours to work with his QB tutor and would crash at his friend's house. Definitely sounds entitled to me.

Supposedly SF didn’t go to Fields pro day, but said they will see him later. They went to Wilson’s pro day. They either don’t love Fields or it’s incredible misdirection bc they’re afraid someone will try to leap frog them to two to get to him. I’m guessing they aren’t that interested. I’m guessing SF likes Lance enough that they were content making the trade to get him ... or Wilson if the Jets shock the world.

Ive read that and also that he wasn’t initially voted captain prior to the season. To be fair, he didn’t have a great year previously and he wasn’t guaranteed to be the starter. It’s certainly worth reaching out to coaches, players, and anyone else he’s spent a lot of time with to get the most accurate picture possible.

As far as the money thing - it’s something to look at but I wouldn’t flatly call it a negative. Mahomes father was a professional athlete and he’s been nothing but a class act. A lot of middle class to wealthy California kids have gone on to great careers. Is that worse than a player coming from an economically depressed inner city area? You could just as easily say he would have been around more negative influences and is more likely to have a bad circle around him in his hometown. Each guy is different.

Apparently this is complete horse shit and rumor mongering by Walter.

unless it’s Mac Jones.

Possible the 49ers get a nice return for Jimmy G and if it’s the Pats #1 that recoups some lost equity

Pick 11. What would I imagine is a ballpark value for the Jets to go from #23 to #11? Probably something like:

#11 and #201 (6th) for #23, #34 (2nd), and #146 (5th).

I actually think Gettleman/Judge might consider trading down if they've vetted multiple players they like nearly as much later in the 1st/early 2nd.

if Jets can get it for something as reasonable as that....

something around
11OA + NYJ 2022 1st + Darnold

should be enough to move up to 4OA

Anythings possible, but look at the other dynamic athlete QB’s in that division. Mac Jones might’ve made sense at 12, but I’d be shocked to see him taken at 3. I think he could’ve been gotten a bit later.

Jimmy G isn’t coming off a great year. NE does make a ton of sense if they’re willing to move their first though. If Lance is indeed the pick at 3 though I can’t see him being ready to start on what should be a competitive club. Honestly, what Lynch says make sense. Start Jimmy G and let a kid develop. If Jimmy G strings it together then they have a shot and his value will only skyrocket for next offseason. Jimmy should have the ultimate incentive to maintain big money and a starting job wherever it may be.

I would surprised by Jones to SF bc of the fit. My understanding is they run an offense where they like to move around a lot and get the QB moving. Jones is a more traditional pocket guy. Give him time and space, and he’s deadly accurate
