Giants have turned lemons into lemonade.
There is no edge or LB at 11 thats worth it, And G does not trade down.
I can see another OL or CB if one falls that far

the cap issue is/was serious. Although there was plenty of 2022 space there wasn’t any room for 2021. So Gettleman lost Zeitler and couldn’t resign Tomlinson. Golladay’s number is less than $5 million for this year b/c the cap is too tight. Literally had no room to sign anybody until losing players to slightly open up 21 at the cost of 25% of the starting LOS.

Flash forward, if the 2022 cap rises approx $23 million for 22 that’s basically all the space the Giants have without flexing Barkley’s 5th year option. Add the 5th yr option come May and that’s approx $10 million. That’s w/o this potential CB Jackson and Jones on his rookie deal.

Doubt Gettleman doesn’t have a short leash with more looking over his shoulder or just doing some of his job for him, Zeitler is cut while Gettleman spoke about not backloading contracts with that smug giggle as if his audience is incompetent. Now all those signed have backloaded contracts.

The Gettleman hating crowd will always have excuses.

Second strong offseason in a row. It does need to translate to playoffs though.

15 wins over 3 years is tough to call an excuse.

He better make the playoffs after awarding $123 million in guaranteed money with almost all of it backloaded.

Yes. We are well aware that he inherited a mess to clean up. Things take time. Looking up now.

well, he created a bigger mess. Now he’s trying to buy his way out. I hope it works yet the last time the Giants went on this type of a spending spree they went 11-5 and crashed and burned afterwards. It doesn’t take brains to spend money.

Now Trae Turner’s dinner is possibly on deck?

I trust Judge’s demeanor and gives me hope b/c a team of mercenaries reminds me of multiple dream teams. At the moment Gettleman spent i believe $115 million on two players who played apoeox 8 out of a possible 32 games.

He didn't really. He spent one year trying to make something of Eli's last years and was forced to pivot. Once the rebuild direction was established and the OBJ trade was made (and that was a GOOD trade), it was always going to take time.

At best, you can make a case that he should have started a rebuild one year earlier, but I would bet that decision wasn't up to him as much as it was up to Mara to sign off.

So Corey Davis signed with the Jets with the understand that Darnold is the QB.

Douglas is seriously playing this one close to the vest. Draft night is going to be bonkers.

This just some fodder but it's interesting and it does back up my thought process that I've been feeling ever since Douglas didn't go for any of those FA O-lineman no matter how high priced that they were and that the Jets will 95% trade down and not take a QB and will go with Sam for one more "show me what ya got with upgraded weapons, O-line and coaching" type season.

I really would be absolutely shocked beyond shocked if Joe doesn't trade down....we'll see but I can't wait as it's going to be fascinating to see what kind of haul Douglas can get and who it's going to be from.

What I really love is that the Jets control the draft and what I love even more is that I'm 100% convinced that Douglas is the right man for the job and he won't F things up. That to me is very comforting.

If it's a trade, it's gonna be to Carolina or Denver.

With the added caveat that the Jets block the Dolphins from the one trading down as well!

2 pick for their '21 1 and 2 and '22 1 and 2

Or the 1st rounders and a young starter

Everything that has leaked said it was Gettleman's idea and that's how he got the job. That he could squeeze more out of Eli. He brought that up with Mara and Mara agreed. He then proceeded to utterly fall on his face, take a RB at 2 in the draft, and essentially cause a huge problem for the Giants.

People need to stop white knighting the guy with this nonsense.

With that said, he's had a very good free agency (and Kevin Abrams deserves a ton of credit for working out the salary details to stay cap compliant).

Dude if Joe could get Carolina's 1&2 this year and next...I'd not be able contain the glee I would be feeling. That would be a serious serious haul. You combine that with the fact the Jets, if they were able to get a haul that you propose, the Jets would have two #1's, two #2's, two #3's this year not to mention a 4, two 5's and a 6 still left for 2021.

Than in 2022, the Jets would have three #1's, two #2's, a #3, two #5's and three #6's..

That would be 12 picks in the first 3 rounds in both '21 and '22...that would be crazy!.

I mean so long as Joe hit on even 70% of those 12 picks, the Jets very likely would be relevant as in a .500 or so team by next year. Jets are in such a great spot...just love it!

Link? I hadn't heard that.

Not absolving Gettleman of any fault, but ripping him at every turn has been a staple in the media and amongst the fan base. Well more than he deserves. It is misplaced blame after a long stretch of futility for years beforehand.

Yep. That should be the price for Wilson imo.

Trade back to 8 or 9, take Slater or one of the CBs, and with 23, 34,39thish, and the 2 3s, take BPA

never heard that yet, without the objective evidence, it appears that’s what happened.

That mess, which included too many vocal ex-Giants who have way too much say in the media including Carl Banks and Shaun O’Hara, forced this delusion upon all of us imo. Eli was done despite his receivers letting him down in that Green Bay playoff game.

He became not a game manager but a safe manager with continual dump offs with zero sense of where the first down marker was. I was at games when nobody was on OBJ who was frantically waiving his hands while Eli never looked in his direction.

Gettleman, a scout wearing a GM hat, botched this whole thing up and has basically got the Giants back to 2017 with hopes of building after a free agent spending spree after so many misses, dead money, etc.

On to 2021 with many new faces yet the one most important isn’t the one Gettleman claimed was touched by the hand of God and would make everybody better but the QB from Duke.
