Little off the board but with LaFleur coming and knowing the way the SF style offense works, I would love if the Jets went Curtis Samuel.

he’s so versatile. The LaFleur offense isn’t gonna be big outside WR throwing down field. It’s a lot of slants, screens, and quick hits. Samuel would be perfect.

Brooklyn kid comes home.

hur dur Gettleman should be forgiven for the team's atrocious record during his three years as GM because he inherited a terrible roster and it would take time for him to fix the salary cap.

3 (technically 4) years in the team is over the cap and has to cut their best offensive lineman to keep a DT.

And Kevin Abrams is supposed to be some kind of cap genius? :skeptic:

inb4 someone tries to make a point about Solder's holding out screwing with Gettleman's plans.... he's the one who signed Solder to the contract the team is trying to get out of. Arguing they should have bought out Gettleman's first star free agent signing here a year earlier is not a point in G's favor.

It's ridiculous

Highly paid QB (Eli) with no OL
Highly paid WR signed to trade
Highly paid average OT he can't afford
Highly paid RG he can't afford
Trades for a DT he's force into highly paying for and and currently has tagged the player twice

Well, so much for signing the top OL in the pool. Hopefully they can go out and get Linsley to shore up the center spot.

With Jets basically doing nothing in FA and letting Linsley and Thume get past them, it looks clearly to me like Douglas is tipping his hand that the Jets will be sticking with Darnold and will trade out of the 2 spot and get as many draft picks as possible in order to rebuild the team.

The Jets need so many pieces, no matter which way Joe goes, it will be fine with me. Jets trading out of the 2 spot now and getting a haul, now that I think about it more and more, is probably the prudent thing to do as tempting as drafting Wilson would be.

Sorry but I'm hardly impressed with this Davis signing. The guy is maddingly inconsistent and very injury prone....the perfect Jet WR...my bad!.

The guy had 5 games with over 100 yards and most of his 5 TD's came in those 5 games. His other 9 games were either duds or very "meh" types. He always looks like he should be better than he actually is.

To those who say he's now the best Jet WR. I say big friggen deal. His competition is a rookie albeit a talented one who could barely stay on the field in Mims and another guy in Crowder who is a slot reciever and runs 10 yard button hooks all game long.

I dunno why I'm so sour about this move. I guess I was really hoping we'd get ARob or JuJu and so this is a big dissapointment.

Anyways, count this longtime Jet fan as not thrilled. Give me Allen Robinson or JuJu...I'm a happy camper. Davis is an OK signing and he'll be lucky to be drafted as a #3 type WR in any fantasy draft in North America when fantasy drafts start happening next August.

Gettleman signs Devontae Booker and hopes Nate Solder accepts a pay cut so he can afford him.

robinson was franchise tagged. So was Godwin.

JuJu has been very inconsistent since AB left and last year he was basically a slot guy running 5 yard outs.

I’m not saying they will do it, but they can easily still sign JuJu if they want him, he would be replacing Crowder in the slot.

Cutting Crowder saves over ten million in cap space with a 1 million dollar dead cap hit.

The Jets did well signing young players today, and not having to give long term deals.

If the team with Pat Mahomes who has won a Bowl and went back this year had to give Thuney 5 years for 80 million what do you think the 2-14 Jets would of had to give?

Get Wilson at 2, and then focus on CB and offensive line with pick 23 and your early second.

As I said previously, I think Douglas tipped his hand by not spending to get any of those top two O-lineman. We'll see pretty damn soon but I'd bet alot of money that Jets are trading down and try to get a haul and we are going to have Darnold for one more year.

I don't think so. To @17futurecap 's point - KC knew they were getting him. They were cutting OL for a week and everyone was making snarky comments about the SB and Mahomes geting killed. It's clear they knew.

Thuney was never going to the Jets if he signed right into FA with a SB contender who spent a week clearing OL salary

Really like the Corey Davis signing. Big body, but moves well on the field. He's not a stiff that is just a red zone type. He was also a #2 behind AJ Brown, who absolutely blew up over the past two years. In an offense that is very run heavy with Henry, he put up some very good numbers being the 2nd passing option. Not to mention, his first 2 and a half seasons, he had Mariota throwing to him when there was clearly something wrong with him in Tennessee. We'll see who is throwing him the ball this season.

Lawson is also another young guy that could be better with the Jets than the team that drafted him. He put up some good numbers in Cincy. 10.5 sacks the last two years combined. Another threat with Quinnen Williams up front.

Douglas and Saleh clearly are targeting guys from the 2017 draft. Young players hitting free agency that could still grow. Wouldn't mind them looking at Gallman or Jamall Williams as a RB option as a younger player that could fill in to the mix in the backfield with Perine and hopefully someone they draft. Feel like they need a veteran corner that can also lead the young group they have right now.

I would have taken Golladay seeing ARob had been tagged. JuJu has been just fine. Yeah he had a bad year a few seasons ago but he was en fuego last season. In a West Coast offense that Lafleur is about to install, JuJu or Golladay would be much better fits than Davis will be.

I'm sorry Davis is the eternal tease. I just don't see him being anything more than an OK WR that will end up being more of a decoy than anything very substantial stats wise. Hey we'll see. I'd love to be wrong about this but I doubt I will be...here's to hoping!.

Tho I'm still not thrilled about the Corey Davis signing, I am quite happy with the Carl Lawson pickup.

For first time since the good ole John Abraham days over a decade ago, the Jets should have an edge rusher who can make opposing defensive coordinators game plan for them and make opposing QB's sweat. OK Joe, now get us a cover corner and we can get the rest in the draft.

I got a funny feeling and this is not going to make some of y'all happy but I got a feeling Joe is going to take Travis Etienne with the Seattle 23rd pick. I know your not supposed to take RB's in the 1st round but Etienne is special and I think I'd take him there unless Najee Harris is staring at us which he won't be but if he is, I'd take him over Etienne.

Jets need a dynamic playmaker and either of those two would fit the bill. So I'm on board if this hunch that the Jets take one of those two RB's with their 2nd first round pick even tho the consensus is to not take a RB in the first round seeing there are others you can get later and the Jets have so many needs. Well one of those needs is at RB and why not get a playmaker there now that Jamal Williams, who I really wanted, is gone to Detroit?
