Simms QB rankings

1. Wilson
2. Lawrence
3. Jones
4. Mond
5. Fields
6. Lance

Simms says Wilson is clearly number 1 for him.

Shouting from the rooftop!

Don't draft running backs in the first round.

Agree. And it makes less sense considering you're about to install a SF/Shanahan inspired offense.

They'll probably go with a combo of 3 RBs rotating them and leaning on the hot hand/matchup as SF does.

I would much rather see the Jets get CB J. Horn with the 23 pick and take a RB in round 3 like the North Carolina RB

I think Belicheck had said it once and Ray Lewis agreed. Belicheck said he didn't care what the players think in regards to evaluating prospects, etc. Ray Lewis agreed and said "we're players, not evaluation experts".

Simms is no different.

Hope so, the Niners beat the Packers in the playoff by letting Raheem Mostert run for 230 yards, just find someone off the scrap heap or a late round draft pick.

personally, i hate the whole TE thing. Yes, there are multiple good TEs but visions of a higher picked TE dominating the game year after year never happens. The better TEs are usually beyond Round 1.

T.J. Hockenson and Eric Ebron were going to be great
Hayden Hurst
O.J. Howard
Evan Engram
Hunter Henry

I don’t care how good Pitts was in college. Like the top two above all the skill gets replaced by “ he can’t block, he has to improve his strength, his pad level is too high, etc”. None of these guys dominate like a Kellen Winslow or Tony Gonzales. They’re all nice but forgetful. No way i touch a TE early.

I don’t get it either. Taking a TE in the top half of the first round feels like a luxury pick. I think we all know the Jets aren’t in a position to make a luxury pick. I wouldn’t mind if the Jets took Pitts with their 2nd first rounder, but he’ll never last that long. Taking Pitts in the top ten means he could be a Gronk 2.0 and still be a regrettable pick.

The presser from Douglas has me convinced that it's Wilson at 2 and Darnold is being dealt unless he's playing 3D Chess on the league.

There are two choices at #2. You bet on a QB or you move the pick for a ransom. Someone will pay up for a QB and you still grab a top 10 player.

I’m thinking they go Wilson but it could just be posturing to get a mega offer.

Idk why, but I see Mac Jones as a Patriot.

Yeah Pitts is a different beast but agree no way you take a TE in top-10.

If Pitts is a multiple all-star/all-pro and could be a Hall of Famer, I'd draft him top 10. Although, I guess this would go for almost any potential player lol.

Realistically, if the Jets trade back, maybe they could select Pitts then.

This would reek of the Giants Barkley pick. He basically becomes a hall of famer or it's almost automatically a poor pick that high. There's not a lot of room for error.

If you're picking outside the top 10 then it could be a nice pick. I doubt the Jets drop that much. Even still, I think they have too many holes to grab a TE.

The thing with TEs is that you can grab some really good ones in later rounds. Some of the better ones in the game were drafted after 1st round.

I knew of Pitts all season and watched Florida a good amount. He’s very very good.

but how is he all of the sudden “the best pass catcher in the draft”. “Forget position he’s the best receiver in the draft”

Expert consensus went from the top TE to draft him over Chase/Smith?

The best pass catcher is Smith. It's been awhile since I've seen someone come out and ran routes like a 7 year veteran.

Chase though still might be better lol.

Pitts at best is the 4th best pass catcher

PFF has an article about matching the draft QBs to the best NFL scheme fits. Not team, scheme fit.

Wilson best matches Kyle Shanahan. And well you know what style offense our new OC is gonna run with the Jets...

so he wasnt nearly as good as a freshman and sophmore than he was as an upperclassman? there isnt anything fishy about an upperclassman being way better than when he was an underclassman. the argument is pretty weak this year when the rival qbs in this draft played for super teams and had it easy as well.

He also had some injuries earlier in his career. I believe a throwing shoulder then later a hand, so you could just as easily make that argument.

That's nice but I don't put any stock in what Simms says. To be honest, I'm not sure how he even got so far with NBC seeing I've listened to him over the years on NFL Sports talk in NBCSN and he blows chunks. Oh wait...that's right his last name is Simms.

I never ever learned anything from him. He reads he papers of the beat writers and regurgitates what they say. Sorry but if Phil wasn't his Daddy, he'd not have the gig he has.

So that all said...Lawrence from everything I've seen, read and heard from people alot smarter than me and Chris friggen Simms, is head and shoulders ahead of Kyle Wilson...ridiculous this Simms BS.

Joe Willie agrees w/you to extent he said that Lawrence is the real deal.
I am not aware that level of certainty for expectations has been given to anyone else.

That said, I get the high ranking of Wilson, and admit he does have potential [not as good % comp to Lawr.] to be the best in this draft, and a bonafide franchise QB.

My tactical to go OL is to grab a couple of dif makers that are gonna impact whoever the signal caller is. If we can sell Darnold for enough given Kiper or whoever said he is better spec wise than Wilson, great. Go stopgap and draft a project mid round and bring him along slowly.

Wilson, Watson, this one, that one, it won't make a dif if nobody other than Becton can hold back the rush,

A superior OL on the other hand, can make a mediocre guy look good, a good guy look great.
