Probably watched him while watching Artur Akhtyamov
I'm not sure who our Russian scout is, Shafigulin?, but they must have really slammed the desk for this one
You've never watched him play, so that's likely why you don't see what they see in him. They only had three picks to make, and it feels like they just burned this one. I just don't get what they see in him
It's always a rarity when the Leafs draft someone who doesn't have a report in the Black Book. But, it's a 6th round flyer on a Russian goalie.Always love the late round obscure overseas picks.
May never amount to anything but I appreciate the mystery
Would have much rather taken him.Could have had Joe Vrbetic. What a joke pick.

Goalies are voodoo, who knows.. never bad to add them in the system
To be fair, Pekka Rinne got selected by Nashville and all they saw of him was a warmup because he never got playing time. Who knows with Goalies.Unless the goalie is really good and/or shows alot of promise, why even bother drafting them? Seems like in most cases you're drafting a lotto ticket that has a very low chance of becoming an NHL goalie and even if you do hit, it often takes a number of years for them to get there with the exception of a few goalies who are able to make it to the NHL in their early 20s.
Seems like its better to simply draft forwards and Dmen who generally take less time to develop and to trade for or sign a UFA goalie when you need one instead.
