Him unlikely to be on the roster in 2020-2021 season. Can’t make the team tougher if he’s not on the team.
Okay thats immediate impact as in this year.
What about next year? What about his game would keep him from legitimately competing for a spot?

The current, better options at his position stuck in front of him; which obviously can change but as of now his best case scenario is what like 5th on the depth chart?Okay thats immediate impact as in this year.

And I will be Jacked up for that change to occur. But it’s also not guaranteed yet.Yeah thats at the moment.
I think its clear that is going to change pretty soon.
I think this could also qualify as a big swing. Our main concern in this draft is #1. We're so used to drafting one pick in this range that I think we put too much emphasis on it in this sitiuation. Honestly, it doesn't really. It's all around the same at that point.Sure but the team still needs to make room for him. Obviously that can happen later, but I’m not a fan of the pick. Drafting 1st enables you to take a big swing at 19/22 which would have been getting a center like Lapierre or Marat K.

Haven’t gotten the chance to read through the thread yet but what did you guys think of Laf saying he wants to play center?
Thank you! Please sign Henrik to do a tandem and go all the way!Avs fan here. I’d like to compliment you on your A+ draft. Yes, you got Laf but that’s was predictable.
Where I was especially impressed was the pick after that. With all the amazing puck moving defensemen, it’s logical that the stay at home, shut down defenseman will make a resurgence. In many ways, Braden Schneider represents that. It was an absolute and total boss move to jump NJ to get him. I was big on Schneider (for the reasons I mentioned) but as I watched NYR jump NJ, I was fascinated to see why. Then when NJ massively reached and took their next best D on principle, it became obvious NYR outplayed NJ. Total boss move of the first round.![]()
And I will be looking forward to assessing that when it happens. It might take a month or a year, but some of these D are getting moved.

“That’s something I’m really hoping to try, I’ve played center a little bit, for sure it’s different a little bit, but for sure you can adjust as a player. And that’s something I’m gonna — I’m really hoping to and we’ll see what happens”he didn't say he wants to play center. he said he'd be open to trying...basically he'll do whatever the team wants him to do.
I think Henrik has his best chance, backup or no, with you guys, not the Caps. Like I said, wish you luck next season either way, but would love for you guys to take our boy all the way.I have a huge amount of respect for him. If he was the back up, it wouldn’t bother me. Last year, Francouz allegedly was injured during the playoffs but he performed so poorly, Im not sure you can say injury was the entire reason. Henrik is obviously more battle tested. I’ve wondred if H would be a better back up than Francouz.
I don’t think the Avs management agrees with me though.

lowkey (and also not lowkey) me too.I am happy that we are drafting some Canadians.
I like Schneider himself as a player, I just don’t like trading up for him when he could have been available at 22. I don’t care that NJ took a defender right after at 20, they took a completely different type of defender that they needed more than Schneider. I also don’t like passing on Lapierre after trading up.
I get why they picked Schneider. They wanted toughness. I just have McIlrath parallels in my head. Not saying he’s going to be like McIlrath, I think he’ll be far better, but there’s some similarities in these two scenarios.

If you said you’re hoping to have pizza tonight does that mean you want to have pizza or you’d be open to eating it if you had to? Lol, it came across more as if he wants to than just he’ll do whatever the team asks of him, sounded almost as if he’s had this discussion with the Rangers brass before
it makes quite the read!Holy shit you guys are obsessed with the Devils lol
Lmao his French accent made me think he was saying hoping toHe said it was something he was "open" to try.
Turns out NJ didn't have Schneider high on their boardDevils huge reach prob bc we took Dchneider
This Muhkamadullin could be a sleeper
