I think they're going to have a lot of conversations about forwards, and the European leagues tonight and tomorrow.
Yeah there’s a ton of European talent still left on the board. A lot of talent in general really, this is a pretty nice class. We can definitely find legit talent with our other third, and possibly even our fourth.

Lapierre's medical records left too many doubts for them.

Perrault was never a serious consideration for them.

Bourque apparently did not have a good interview with them and it sealed his fate.
Ya Perrault seems like the antithesis of a typical Rangers pick

I'm less enthused about the Schneider pick after watching Scouch's video.
Not the biggest fan of his analysis. He just watches 7 random games and tracks stuff and bases almost everything on that. Like he was saying theres a serious conversation for Byfield going first overall instead of Laf. He still offers an alternative perspective , but I dont take everything he says at face value.

I don't hear his words, I watch the clips.

I am still stunned how Gorton tuned the Devils tonight. When the draft got to 18, it was obvious to me that the Devils were likely to pick a defenseman and a forward with their two picks. Given the players available it made all the sense in the world to pick the defenseman first and then grab one of the many forwards available. As it developed, I told my wife step by step exactly what was going to happen. Tom Fitzgerald learned a hard lesson tonight. Think like a GM Tom!

Anybody who even mentions that Byfield could possibly be picked ahead of LAF is a moron.

Add in that, from the info @Edge gave us, Mercer wasn’t on the Rangers radar where the Devils selected him.

Yeah, i've heard alot of people advocate checking out his rankings but I find them very flawed for the same reason's you list. Also his 1-4/A-D way of rating players is WAY convoluted. If you read his comments on that Lafreniere video he even agrees that he needs to change it up. He does provide good analytics if you're into hearing a guy rattle off a bunch of percentages though.

Schneider was 19th on my list. Here's what I said about him a few months back:

"Schneider probably has a more clear path and defined role as a prospect. He's a two-way guy, with a physical side, who gets the puck out of his zone and to someone who sets up the play around the other end. He's capable of joing that play as well in a support role."

when isolating players in a youtube video you can make any player look amazing or horrible based on how you edit it...good or bad its too small a sample size to override the team who saw him a ton most likely

And here's the 11-22 I've pieced together from conversations tonight:

11Guhle
12Schneider
13Askarov
14Quinn
15Jarvis
16Amirov
17Holloway
18Grans
19Greig
20O'Rourke
21Brisson
22Lapierre

Wow, kind of crazy that that was their list. Do you happen to have their top 10, as well?

From the HockeyProspect Black Book

"We didn't see a single poor performance from this prospect this season, and we had a good number of viewings of him by the end of the season.

"I have him ahead of Drysdale on my list. Great kid too" - NHL scout from April '20

"Teams need to have defenders who can match up against the top scorers at the highest level."

And on a 3-9 rating scale...
Hockey Sense: 8
Compete: 8
Skill: 6
Skating: 7
Miscellaneous: 8

JD's reaction was spot on. Loved what I have seen from Schneider. Nobody knew who Lundkvist was in 2018, either.
