wow says he'd be the tallest forward in nhl history

hinestly one of the things that scares me about Byfield. They were saying he’s closer to 6’5’ now. That’s almost too tall. A lot of guys struggle to play in the nhl at forward if they get too tall. It’s funny but there is in fact a sweet spot and once you start getting over 6’3’ it starts to get a little weird being a skill guy too.

Gotta be terrible to bend over for face-offs

I'm not one to be obsessed with size but that's not just size. That's size you get excited about.

We went with boom or bust little guys, so I think it was a good move here to take a body that you can probably do a lot with, even if the skill isn't there at the highest levels.

He actually surprised me with his positional play this season.

It's easy just steam roll kids when you're a foot taller and 50 pounds heavier than guys, but he did a reasonably good job of always being in position to break up plays and take advantage of opportunities.

At this point, really not a bad project to pick up.

Just what we needed. More nepotism haha

I really hope this isn't the case. I think Bobrov has helped us identify some major skill overseas. I hope it's just a strategy to pick more North/South players who can help us build out the lineup with players that could wear down opponents. IF we have indeed drafted and identified most of the core at this point, I'm all for this kind of approach. We will need to cycle in support players constantly over the next decade.

I agree, there's a size where you start sacrificing dexterity and mobility and as a forward you cant really make up anywhere else.

I'd like to think there's a guy on the Rangers scouting department who sits at the draft table every year just shouting names of the tallest players with the tallest parents. Fil Chytil, dad Rostislav, tall fellow, mom, 6'2 as well, could be a good one to take at #21 Jeff. Matthew Rempe, 6'8 and that's only the measurement taken in February, could be a good one Jeff.

If 2 of Gettinger Edstrom Rempe Rueschhoff can actually make it to the nhl as consistent players that would be one hell of a 4th line

It helps that Rempe packed on about 30 pounds weight training the past year — especially after the WHL halted play in March — and now carries 235 pounds into the corners, face-off circles and in front of opposing nets, compared to the 208 pounds most scouting websites still list him at.
“I’ve just gotten way, way stronger,” Rempe said. “But I’ve also gotten way, way faster. So, I think my skating and also my overall strength is just the most improved.”

So he's put on 30 pounds and become a way faster skater somehow.

Zdeno Chara called. He said there is no one who is too tall to play hockey
