Kreid Me A River
It's almost Christmas and still no points. Is he a bust?
I am not prepared to offer a defense of the imperial measurement per se but I’ll knife fight anyone who tries to tell me that Celsius is better than Fahrenheit.
Yes lean muscle and strength is the goal and my post was too black and white when it's really in the middle. When I say getting bigger and stronger I'm not saying adding 15 lbs by any means necessary. I'm talking about adding muscle and dropping body fat. For some it could be as simple as a 2-5 lb difference on the scale. Laf is already big he doesn't need to get much bigger weight wise but you can always get stronger.
Yes it's recreational and I'm not comparing myself to professional athletes, but I'm in my early 30s and 20 lbs heavier (185 to 205) but way faster and more athletic than when I was weaker and had more body fat in my 20s. A kid I train has put on 80 lbs over 2+ years of training with me and feels much better on the ice. Every kid I train (14-20) that gains size and gets stronger raves about how they feel speed and agility wise no matter the sport. Too many older guys out there that know nothing about strength training that spread misconceptions.
Yeah but even with that said, that still doesn’t explain someone like Kessel.
Didn't Kessel have chemo which changed his metabolism? I can't remember the exact details but it was something medical.
Some people can get away with doing nothing. Even Bartolo Colon was crushing dingers as a big boy. Kessel is a very talented player but I wouldn't consider him one of the fastest or most physical.Yeah but even with that said, that still doesn’t explain someone like Kessel.

lazy journalism comparing a french canadian star wing prospect to a french canadian star wingerThere is a line at the end that really caught my attention.
I had a friend who works for a team other than the Rangers tell me that Lafreniere reminds him a bit of Huberdeau, but with all the offensive attributes cranked a level.

A more physical and skilled version of Huberdeau is definitely a super homerun pick.
I've never heard that about Kakko.Hate that both our 2019 & 2020 picks player comparables are Huberdeau
may I ask why?Hate that both our 2019 & 2020 picks player comparables are Huberdeau
Because it's boring that both of our highest picks in franchise history are compared to the exact same guy, which imo neither of them is remotely similar to Huberdeau, nor are they similar to each othermay I ask why?

Kessel was extremely fast whatSome people can get away with doing nothing. Even Bartolo Colon was crushing dingers as a big boy. Kessel is a very talented player but I wouldn't consider him one of the fastest or most physical.
Well then if they actually aren't similar to Huberdeau to you, it can't matter that muchBecause it's boring that both of our highest picks in franchise history are compared to the exact same guy, which imo neither of them is remotely similar to Huberdeau, nor are they similar to each other

Kessel is one of those guys who people almost forget how supremely talented he actually is.
They remember his personality, they remember memes about his physical conditioning, but he really is an elite level offensive talent.
At one time, he was seen as a potential top pick in his draft class. Questions about his commitment to the game is partially what dropped him.
Even now, you regularly hear scouts and people around the league question just how good Kessel could be if he actually dedicated himself completely to being his best.
Because for as good as he is, there’s the perception he could be even better if his work ethic matched his natural ability.
Kakko I don’t see.
Lafreniere I can see a bit based on size, skating, approach, etc.
