Cwede's situation is a little more nuanced then that....

He needs a sarcasm detector to detect the sarcasm detector, not the actual sarcasm or Maybe he needs both.....hmmm

back to Garand - sometimes the Rangers press team does get to the heart of the matter:

"...15-4-0 record, 1.85 goals against average and .932 save percentage.
Garand's save percentage is the best in the WHL (min. 2 games), his 15 wins are tied for the most in the WHL, and his 1.85 goals against average is second best in the WHL.
The 6-foot, 173-pound goaltender has compiled a 70-26-6 record, 2.32 goals against average, and .918 save percentage in 109 career games with Kamloops. Garand has also registered 10 shutouts in his five seasons with the team..."

and now, thanks to our 'contract slide' impact alert from Steven, we can resume 'Korczak ELC watch'

This was my post... eh, that I made over a year go. I need your story now before you cancel you account and will never be heard from again ()

P.S. You also made a post back then and you kept its theme now.

Back to back shutouts for this kid in the AHL. @SnowblindNYR might have been right. Trading Igor and getting this kid on an ELC have been it.

Garand has looked great at times the last 2 years but hasn't been consistent outside of the playoffs. For a while last year, his save percentage was hovering around .910, but the team took a nosedive in the middle of the season and his numbers plummeted.

Let's see if he can maintain his play, if he can carry the team, at least somewhat, when they aren't playing well, because we all know the Rangers will need that. It's a long way from a great stretch of games in the AHL to being an NHL starter. Even if he stays strong the rest of the season, I don't think he's ready to be a starter in the NHL, so unless the plan was to bring in a starter for 1 or 2 years, I don't think trading Igor was really an option.

If and when Garand shows that he can be a starter in the NHL, then we can figure out what to do about it.

Hopefully Hartford starts shifting more of the workload to him. Right now he's in basically a 50/50 split with Domingue.

as has been stated, the weekend heavy schedule makes allocating majority starts to one goalie difficult

That's not really true. This is Hartford's schedule for December:

There's no reason Garand couldn't play on the 4th, 7th, 11th, 15th, 20th, 27th and 31st, leaving the 6th, 14th, 21st and 28th for Domingue.

Thus far, Garand has played on the 4th, 6th and 11th, so maybe this is the start of Potulny using Garand more. We can hope.

Yeah I mentioned that Talbot played 55 of 76 games, Hellberg played 53, and Georgiev played 37 games while spending 2 months in the AHL. And that's when they were doing more 3-in-3s. If you want a guy to start 65% of the games it doesn't require too much planning.
