Wouldn't touch Fields with any kind of high first round pick. He made several dumb throws in that game that simply will be turnovers in the NFL. Personally, I don't think the guy is bright enough to play QB in the NFL at a high level.

this is both a bit harsh but also insightful
guy has potential to be star but there are lots of guys w/outstanding tools who just don't put it all together,

Go w/guarantee dif maker future HOF at OT.

Bottom line Bern...the Jets are in a tremendous position to be in at #2. They for all intents and purposes control the draft and how it will play out.

Fields having such a huge game made our pick that much more attractive. Wilson declared officially today that he's coming out tho it was expected. And you have Sewell there as well.

Joe D comes from the Ozzie Newsome tree as well as the Howie Roseman one and those are some pretty nice trees to come from. So yeah I trust whatever it is Douglass does. We actually have a guy who knows what he's doing. I'm leaning as I said right this very moment to staying a #2 and taking Sewell.

However if Fields has a good game vs Alabama, I'd start to become really tempted to take him. Fields has a little Cam vibe too him and early to mid career Cam was a huge weapon. Or do we trade down and get a haul? Man oh man Douglass has some amazing decisions to have to make. It might come down to who we pick as our next head coach and whether or not he thinks Sam can be rehabilitated or if he wants a Fields or Wilson.

Fascinating offseason upcoming. Bottom line tho as I said....Jets control the draft and seeing we have someone competent finally running the team in Douglas, I'm stoked about that.

It's nice to have the stud QB, a guy w/that X factor.
It is very very dif to get those guys.
They are a risk for not panning out.

Keep Sam or cash out if enough is on the table.
Get a good enuf vet if SD goes.

Take the guy who will be HOF for sure barring injury, make life easier for whoever is our signal caller.

Jets are in a good spot. Imo, if Houston can win it strengthens their position . . . if they potentially want to move back one spot and still get Sewell.

Going to be a crazy Sunday and hoping for the end of Gettleman on Monday.

Houston's pick belongs to Dolphins!
They are set at QB and will SURELY take PS.
That is a career of likely 10+ min seasons of headache for us.

We should take best player as dominant consideration/strategy, but consider big picture here when guesstimating who bpa is.

yup - root hard for Houston today.

Friggen Sam....sometimes he can look damn good. That end of the half TD drive consisted of at least 3-4 solid passes which makes you think...better weapons, better line, better coaching...would it make a difference?

Hmmmm...this is going to be to be a tough call for Joe D. If he takes Sewell, we know which route he'll be going.

Hopefully they have a coach on board before they need to make a decision on Darnold. I want, for once, everyone to be on the same page here. I want the GM to have the coach he wants but also for the coach to have the QB he wants.

At this point I lean towards taking Sewell and sticking with Darnold. Unless someone makes you a great offer for two--then trade back, get whoever you think BPA is (if it's Chase or a CB or whoever) and then go from there.

I know there's alot of anti Darnold peeps in here but let's be fair, Darnold has played pretty well the past 2 and half games.

Had he played like this more often, we likely wouldn't be having this conversation nor considering taking another QB again in the draft. But he's been very inconsistent over the years some of it having to do with as I just said...poor weaponry, poor O-line play and especially poor coaching and some of it his fault obviously.

So no matter what you or anyone in here thinks, Douglas has a heck of decision to have to make. I like Sewell and want Joe D to take him...you and I are on same page here. And if that occurs, than it's likely Sam is coming back for one more year whether we like it or not. So tho I'm not getting snowed by Sam having played pretty darn well the past 3 with this game vs the Patriots the best one thus far, you have to admit, is pretty good timing that he's doing this.

Becton hurt again. This is another reason why I think we should take Sewell. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit concerned about how Becton is going to hold up over the years. He gets hurt way too much and it pretty much happens on a game by game basis.

Despite how agile he is for his size, it's almost as if he's too big for his own good. I dunno...wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have a potential perennial all-pro like Sewell to play left tackle if Becton keeps getting hurt.

No one has really discussed this but it needs to be said... during this offseason, Becton needs to lose weight as in 30-40 pounds. You can't play in the NFL at 370 or 380 or whatever he is...it just doesn't work.

Becton will still be a pile driver at 330 pounds or so. He won't last tho if he doesn't lose some weight...it needs to be done.

I mean Darnold has been around three full years, what he has done--be decent--in these past couple games shouldn't sway anyone one way or another. That would be like evaluating a hitter in baseball on one September whole ignoring his previous 1400 ABs. Darnold is up and down, the model of inconsistency. I mean I've gone to bat for him and said the Jets are largely to blame for his lack of development, so I don't place all the blame on him. But he is what he is at this point. It's typical Jets, the team or specific players start looking better late in the season when things have already gone to shit and they give you false hope that they're primed to turn it around next season.

While I lean towards keeping Darnold, I don't really care what they do with him. I just want everyone in the organization, from the Johnsons to the GM to the new coach, to be on the same page with what they ultimately choose to do.

Now we finally have a good debate- who was the worse NYG non blocking first round tight end- Engram or Shockey?

No offense bro, but this post is ignorant. Shockey blocked well and was infinitely better at catching than Engram. He was just a headcase but he was the Giants best tight end since Bavaro I would say.

It was a long time ago but I don’t remember Shockey blocking well at all. I’m a bigger fan of Rhett Ellison style TEs

I'm not an expert but a) most Giants fans claimed he blocked well. I've never heard someone saying he's a bad blocker, in fact they said it was a strength. And Giants fans have a mixed relationship with him because he's a headcase. b) Even if he didn't block, he was like Tony Gonzalez compared to Engram as a pass catcher.

If the Jets played the Giants now I'd give the Jets a 65% chance of winning.
I don't know, man, the Jets are still pretty awful. They had a couple surprising wins like basically every other team in the league, but otherwise they're still generally garbage. I think at this point your record is a pretty accurate reflection of who you are.
