First off Happy almost New Year to my goombas here on the football board. You guys have helped make the nightmare that has been 2020 a bit more bearable with some of your comments, insights and at times some laughs.

That said and how's this for a change of pace?. For the first time since forever or at least since the Denver game, us Jet fans, now that the Trevor Lawrence dream was officially kiboshed last week with the Browns win and because it's supposedly a done deal that Gase is going to be gone on Black Monday, it's safe now and we can actually root for our team to win a football game again...imagine friggen that...lol

And for a win to be against Belichek and the hated Patriots at their place would make it that much sweeter. Let's do this. I haven't written this in forever but here goes.....ready?...Go Jets!!!....

Lawrence would have been HUGE.
But that said, Sewell is legit otherwise 1OA worthy and w/Bechton will make huge dif, barring injury.

Since we are locked into 2OA, yeah, go for it.

HNY to you and all HFBers here.

I think you and I are pretty much on the same page Bern. I'll repeat what I've said all along, I just do not think Joe D is taking a QB with the 2 pick...just don't. None of them are good enough to warrant a pick that high even if Fields has a good game tomorrow or if Wilson continues to be the cat's meow!

As I said a few times, Sewell is the guy we either will take or we will make believe we are going to take him so that a bidding war can potentially ensue and if Joe D can get a haul to move down a few spots, I think that's the way it's going to go down. Now maybe there will be a team or two who fall in love with Fields or Wilson as well and they'll potentially get into a bidding war to move up to the Jets spot to insure they get their guy and so once again we get a haul.

Either way, we are in a great spot and to be frank, we really can't lose here especially because we have a GM who knows how to evaluate talent and who knows how to work the system. We for the most part control the draft and how it's going to play out.. I like very much the position we are in.

If I had to say one way or the other what we are going to do, it would be 65% chance we stay at 2 and pick Sewell.....35% we deal down somewhere in the top 10 and get a haul. I'm really OK with either scenario and that's mostly because it's Douglas who is orchestrating it and I trust him more than any GM we have had since Parcells was doing the shopping.

I have no particularly strong Giants draft takes ATM because by Sunday they could make the playoffs or draft as high as 3rd overall and a bunch of stuff in between lmfao.

If the Jets go Sewell at #2 i have to think the Dolphins phone will be ringing a lot. They’re in great shape.

Appreciate the full thought behind yr post.

Obv, it is mathematically possible for any team to up its offer to have so much on the table it can't be turned down.... but as a practical matter, I say Sewell's production exceeds any realistic return, even allowing for some premium of overpay. I wanted Bechton last yr, we got him, now lets build a real wall.

Happy to hear you bullish on our GM, I am not familiar enough to vote yea or nay as to if he is that good. Until he demonstrates otherwise, I am happy to take your word for it while using the eye test.
IMO the only GM who was 1,111% fully worthy of all hoopla and praise was the late great Bill Walsh.
The rest line up after that, and it is a big drop.

Damn...just watched the full Mississippi State Tulsa brawl that occurred yesterday in the Armed Forces Bowl. I didn't know about it till a buddy of mine at a happy hour I was at yesterday told me about it. Anyways just saw it and that might be the worst football brawl I've ever seen.

I mean players were kicking each other on the ground and shit. Man...there's going to be some serious repercussions for this...fines, suspensions, scholarships reduced, bowl game bans...the works. Not good.

IMO, Lawrence should not be running up field without the football. I get it’s their offense but if i’m an Ohio State defender with a clean shot at the QB i am taking it.

The reason I wouldn’t use the Seattle 1st on Etienne is because you can probably use Seattle’s 3rd on a guy like Sermon.

Fields is going to tighten up at halftime. His toughness and performance being hurt is likely going to help come draft day.

Both QBs often looking at one receiver though. Fields is tough

Interesting 2nd half coming.

Justin Fields just helped make the Jets #2 pick that much more valuable with this insane performance of his.

Whether or not the Jets take a QB at 2...I personally don't think they will, they just made the 2 slot alot more valuable to a QB needy team. I mean it could possibly be us but I still think we are going Sewell or trading down. Now if we trade down to a team that want Sewell in a huge way, we could trade down and possibly take a Fields or Wilson if we dont move past 5 or so.

But man I gotta say...Fields has blown me away tonight. Never thought he had this in him. OK Joe D...it's going to be fun to see what you end up doing.

Lawrence had better not get hurt. Clemson hasn’t blocked anybody since the first series.

1. Sewell should be taken; it is inconceivable that enough premium will be offered to establish the level of mega, not ordinary, overpay that would justify moving him.

2. Everything else is on the table.
The Broncos want a guy, pref a foundation piece, but they are at what, 10? Lions want to grab a guy to get a replacement for almost 33 yr old Stafford, going younger while a top 10 option is here.

Lions, do
Darnold + Seattle 3rd
for
Okudah + Lions 2nd

swap of 3OAs + picks. Okudah returning from injury, would bolster CB position

DEN, consider
WR Jeudy + 10OA + small +
for
Darnold

As noted previously, Niners an option as well.

We can 'make do' at QB until a dynamic upgrade comes along.

Not all 6'5" + Ts are =.
You can see Bechton is special.
So is Sewell.

Don't eff this up.
