Vastly different era in the NFL in 2005 and 2020. 2005 had two 4000 yard passers and 14 3000 yard passers. Only one QB had 30 TD passes. 2019 had 11 4000 yard passers, 25 3000 yard passers, and 4 QB over 30. Sam putting up similar numbers to QBs 15 years ago means his performance is vastly worse relative to the league.

This is a little disingenuous. The NFL has been a passing league for the past 20 + years, but these stats ignore all the rule changes that have benefitted the offense in the past 10-12 years beginning with the Brady rule, now it's basically hands off the QB ...not to mention the generous leeway QBs get for intentional grounding.

Well yea, and that's exactly why the same stats now are worse than they were in 2005.

I have no idea what you're talking about. If Ben and Sam had the exact same stats and one player did in 2005 and one in 2020 the player who did it in 2005 had a vastly better season. There's no comparison. It's like comparing hockey stats today to those form the 80s.

So get rid of Sam. I’m sure another team realizes a 23 year old Sam doesn’t have the weapons a Ben or Eli had regardless of era. Never mind the surrounding roster but Ben had Jerome Bettis, Eli had Tiki Barber and Sam had a 37 year old Frank Gore. Sure, get rid of Sam if you like.

Maybe the Patriots can grab him.

HUH? That makes no sense at all. Cosmi ahead of Sewell...ummm me thinks NOT!!
I tried it as the Jets and picked Wilson and the Bengals picked Justin Fields. At least it had Sewell going 4th. I tried it as the Giants and it had the Jags picking Zach Wilson. Jags have gone off the board before but that's just crazy. PFF is just hyped because Collinsworth is one of the owners.

As I said, something is obviously off with this randomizer or whatever it's called. Considering what you found, I wouldn't even look at it now.

It may be a bit overhyped but PFF evals of non skilled positions is what I really like them for. They also do give detailed scouting reports on college players coming into the NFL which I like as well.

Crazy to think a short four years after the draft both Darnold USC and Rosen UCLA are 49ers (Rosen is on their roster today)

Wild, sure, but if they want to stabilize their signal caller w/quality [not nec star yet but arguably enuf quality] and they have enough to offer, I'd go there.

NO should be the easy and clear answer!

As I clearly noted last day or so in a few of my posts since the Browns win, you'll know that that's exactly what I'm concerned about. As unlikely as it would seem in most normal organizations that a Gase would stay, that is the operative word..."normal".

The Jets don't do things normal however and so there is enough of a chance that the knucklehead Johnson's could be considering bringing Gase back that there are many many longtime Jet fans like myself very concerned that this winning streak could influence them.

The only saving grace and I said this as well is that there is an adult in the room and I have faith that Joe Douglass will let his friend Gase go easy with some "dignity" and he'll have the Johnson's ear and won't let them get snowed.

We shalt see come January 4th if these fears of mine and many many longtime loyals like me are unfounded...cross fingers!

Im the most most cynical Jet fan on planet earth and I don’t think there’s a chance in hell Gase stays. Anything could happen, but I’m thinking 95% chance he’s gone... media is already starting to report it...

Doubt dumb Dave Gettleman , who spends and wastes cap space like a drunken sailor, is back and i can’t see how anybody would trade a #2 for Engram. The DL has three players and two are free agents while he has so/so cap space b/c he still has:

- Nate Solder making $16.5 million which is yet another $10 million in dead money if cut
- Golden Tate making $10.8 million which is yet another $4.7 million in dead money if cut
- Zeitler is making $14.5 million so he can’t cut him being Hernandez isn’t playing well.
- Awesome Shepherd is a making $9 million
- Barkley is north of $10 million for a HB and it’s already time to flex that 5th year option to skyrocket his cap hit
- yet both DL Tomlinson and Williams are free agents and going to cost a fortune

It’s the NFL and the team has 5 wins. Playing hard and losing is NOT enough to keep Dumb Dave Gettleman around b/c he gutted the team of talent and wrecked their cap with his directionless management.

Honestly a 5th rounder for him is more than fair. Just get him out of here.

Cut Tate and save $6.1 million. He's not needed.

As I mentioned in my "I hate Craig Carton" post last night...I hope and pray that this report of Gase being fired on Black Monday is true and it will in fact happen.

Until I see videos of Gase and his 1993 Gremlin or is it a Tercel...couldn't tell, driving off Jet Drive for the final time, I'll still be a bit cautious in my optimism that the deed has finally been done and that the nightmare is over!.

Was thinking about this last night gents.

If we assume that these reports of Gase being history is a fait accompli, the Johnsons need to do something that they've never let happen before since they became owners and that is too let the GM, in this case, Douglas do all the shopping, pick the coach's he likes, orchestrate the search, do the multiple interviews and make the hire....period end of story!!!

NO more of this BS from the past where you have 90 year old former executives like Charlie Casserly chiming in orchestrating things. No more dozen or so peeps involved in every aspect of the interview process whether it be the search for even candidates to potentially even interview....no more of that shit!

Newsflash Chris Johnson. You have a true football man here in Joe D. He is widely respected all across the league. People know him and like him. This is no Joe Schmoe we have here...this guy is the real deal. The Jets haven't had a guy with cred like this since some guy Bill Parcells was here for a few minutes but what a glorious few minutes it was there for awhile.

Douglas has played integral parts of 2 SB winning organizations. You are lucky that Douglas decided to come here. We as a fan base are lucky that Joe D decided to come here as he was highly sought all over the league yet he chose to come here thx in part to ironically Gase.

We trust him...I know I do and I'm not alone. Now you need to trust him as well and let him do his job and bring in his guy and get this Jet choo choo train going on the right track finally as it's been way way to long since we've been even relevant let alone a playoff contender.

Now if Chris Johnson wants to be involved, consulted with and sit in on maybe some of the final interviews in the process,, when the candidates have been narrowed down... by all means do that. But Johnson absolutely needs to step back this time and let Joe D do what he's been hired to do which is to bring in the people he feels are best suited to lead this football team going forward.

No more screwing around...we need to get this coaching hire right as in very very right. Chris Johnson always says he wants nothing more than for the Jets to be successful and ultimately win a Super Bowl.

Well here's a little tip from a longtime loyal beyond what any normal person should be loyal Jet fan. And yes I should be knighted for this insane loyalty I've showed over the years. Many others here on this board can say the same thing.

The journey to relevance starts now with letting Douglas hire the next head coach of the Jets and just as importantly there should be a new chain of command implemented and this new coach whoever he is, he that coach needs to report to Douglass not the Johnson's. This new coach should be permitted as well to hire his assistants as well. I don't want another Matt Rhule situation occurring again where a coach can't hire his guys and is told who he is going to have as his assistants.

We are starting fresh now. Time to do things differently now as those old archaic ways just don't work. Let Douglas do his thing and he alone hire the next Jets head coach...simple as that!

I have to ask, why do you always spell Douglas's name with an extra "s"?

First off Happy almost New Year to my goombas here on the football board. You guys have helped make the nightmare that has been 2020 a bit more bearable with some of your comments, insights and at times some laughs.

That said and how's this for a change of pace?. For the first time since forever or at least since the Denver game, us Jet fans, now that the Trevor Lawrence dream was officially kiboshed last week with the Browns win and because it's supposedly a done deal that Gase is going to be gone on Black Monday, it's safe now and we can actually root for our team to win a football game again...imagine friggen that...lol

And for a win to be against Belichek and the hated Patriots at their place would make it that much sweeter. Let's do this. I haven't written this in forever but here goes.....ready?...Go Jets!!!....
