I think Zach Wilson becomes the consensus #2 QB leading up to the draft. I think you’ll have a couple serious offers. I think the story is whether the Jets trade down and keep Sam or pick a QB. I’m fine taking Sewell at 2, but I’m starting to think the Jets won’t. If they can add a first and maybe a 2nd and still draft Smith, Waddle, or Chase then they may do it.

Im thinking Atlanta or Carolina... maybe Detroit trades Stafford and decides to start over

imo, you take a QB or trade out.

That makes sense if someone steps up to make a strong offer.

somebody is going to trade back and up. I don’t see how 1-8 as of today goes in order. Unless everybody has a Dave Gettleman not picking up the phone. That went well. Smh

Edit, then again. Dumb Dave did pick up the phone and
- trades 3 picks for #1 Baker who he cut and now is on the Chiefs roster
- signed and then traded OBJ
- traded JPP 9.5 sacks and Okwara 7.5 sacks
- signed Nate Solder
- signed Golden Tate
- signed Shepherd for $40 million
- traded for Williams
- botched the HC

etc, etc,etc

the worst GM i have ever seen. Completely lost while maintaining his arrogance.

Jets just have to hold their nose and take Zach or Justin, right? Fair enough if their scouts hate both of them, but you can really mess up by getting too cute.

I think at minimum the Bengals would make a small offer to move from 5. They want/need a LT and Sewell would be a great fit, and theres enough of a risk someone else grabs him. The dolphins at 4 are probably the one who can move around the most.

My guess is Carolina tries to jump ATL.

im a charter member of the Zach Wilson fan club. He’s really good. I would be fine drafting him at 2 if they determine he’s their guy. It’s a QB league. Not winning shit with a meddling QB.

just edited by post. Matt Ryan’s dead money would be a disaster. Doubt it’s them

imo, the only way a team moves up to #2 is for a QB. Atlanta might wait but could move up while Carolina is a bit desperate. Washington is desperate while Jerry Jones has a big decision to make. Should be some offers but i doubt a team pays a ton to move up unless it’s a QB.

and Jalen Hurts looks better than Jones so who knows with a new GM what could be in store for the NYG.

I'm hopeful that they can get the haul for that #2 pick they should. I agree with others that Wilson is going to become the #2 QB. He's much more impressive than Fields.

If he isn't the clear cut #2 and someone wants to move up for Fields at #2, I'd move down and take him anyway.

But, what are the Steelers playing starters for? I guess they have a shot at the 2 seed if the Bills lose a game, but they are pretty much locked into the 3 seed.
It’sa huge rivalry and the Steelers have a chance to keep the browns out of the playoffs.

If the Giants lose to Dallas next week it appears they pick 6th yet . . .

if Philly beats Wash and Giants beat Dallas they win the East and pick probably 18th lol.

Interesting factoid - Dave Gettleman has never traded down in a draft ever as a GM. Not one time in any round.

Keep that in mind for any mock drafts after the season.

Vilma has a lot of company in the worst announcer category. Can’t these ex-players shut up?

All Giants fans knew this and why he never picked up the ringing phone and drafted Barkley. Awful GM.

Amazing NFC “playoff battle” says Vilma

Amazing game between two back up QB’s and two teams totaling 9 wins by Week 16. Meanwhile, the backup in Washington was benched for the 3rd stringer.

NFC East Championship - 6-9 Dallas at 5-10 Giants.

Hoping for snow b/c the visual will be brutal otherwise lol.

With the main prize off the board, I don't want the team to take a QB just to take a QB. Sam is still absurdly young, has played his career under an absurdly bad coach, and with pretty much no line and no weapons. I'd either use the #2 to further invest in the line in Sewell (this is also partly due to durability concerns with Becton), or trade down, draft someone like DeVonta Smith, and pick up another 1st rounder+. You could then use the other two first rounders to pick up a G for the O-Line and maybe an EDGE or a CB (depending on where the picks are and who ends up falling). I'd be thrilled to walk out of the first round with Smith, Surtain, and Trey Smith (plus another pick or two on Day 2). I would have been MORE thrilled to walk out of the first round with Lawrence, but that ship has sailed, and I worry that the "QB or bust" mindset could end up with the team failing to maximize their value. Darnold could be rehabbed. You don't bother when Lawrence is the option, but since he's not, I'm more inclined to give him a good coach and weapons out the wazoo and see what happens.

Id lean towards trading down in this scenario, but it comes down to what they think of Sam and how much they value a Wilson. All things being equal I’d stick with Sam, but the finances do come into play. They have to decide on his 5th year option which is 22-23 million then you have to give him an extension. If you think Wilson or Fields is legit you get them for pennies for 4 years before deciding. I’m actually a believer in Sam but I think you have to decide if you think he can develop into a top 10 QB... if not, might have to make a tough call.

I don't know what the timelines look like but I'd love it if we could find a coach before making the final decision on a QB. If you find a coach you really like that believes he can turn Darnold around, then it makes your decision easier. I assume most coaches would rather have the opportunity to have their say in a new QB, but still, some offensively-oriented coach who is a fan of short and intermediate routes might think Darnold has what it takes to succeed in his offense.
