Gase has to think everyone is stupid to think he isn't calling plays on his own. He's on the headset, Loggins is not. Gase has the play sheet, Loggins was shown standing there doing nothing while the plays are being run. After the game, he gets asked and becomes extra defensive:

Dude is just a f***ing piece of garbage. He calls the shots, he calls 3rd downs, he calls the 2 minute drill, he can "override" the calls if he wants to. These are his plays and he's trying to deflect the ineptitude of the offense off of himself alone.

If any of these players have balls, they'll sit out the last game like the Dolphins players did. The players with a little bit of standing need to sit out. Would be tough for a rookie to do it. Maye, Fant (if healthy), Darnold, Williams, and Crowder should lead the charge on this. Protest that he needs to go. It worked for the Dolphins, it can work for the Jets.

Part of me feels bad when coaches get fired from my favorite teams b/c it's very rarely cut and dry, with blame to go around. Not here. I am going to enjoy watching him get fired. He's the worst coach I've seen for any team I root for. Ultimate clown and a terrible coach.

It has nothing to do with politics. It's silly to even entertain that masks were somehow made up in 2020 by Americans as a punishment on their own culture, and it shows an amazing ignorance of history, science, and knowledge of any country outside the US.

Other cultures have been using masks as a way to protect against SARS, MARS, and other diseases for decades. It's not a magic solution. It's a risk mitigation strategy. It was a rule in the COVID plan for the NFL because they're trying to actually play the season. The other choice was to not. Which of course you would have been up in arms about as well.

There was always going to be stuff like this when they decided to play. The other choice is to shut down the league.

Aside from super stars which the Jets don't have, every NFL player is playing for a contract.

Yeah, Kotite was the last person whose departure filled me with actual joy. Otherwise, even guys I didn't really like, like a Mangini or someone, you still kind of feel bad for.

The issue isn't the game being played as much as it is about the idiotic mask nonsense.

The third string QB tested positive. Ok.

So the other QBs would have been magically okay to play if they had masks on?

They're either exposed or they aren't. They're either positive or they aren't. The mask isn't some sort of super shield.

The issue has nothing to do with whether they are exposed, positive or a super shield. There are clearly defined guidelines with defined consequences and they didn't follow them.

Yeah the other issue is that if a game gets cancelled, no one gets paid.

Not sure how the other players on the Broncos would feel about that.

Gettleman deserves credit. He has been ripped mercilessly, but the team is on the rise.

First and foremost, Joe Judge appears to have gotten this team to be competitive and play hard. I was certainly suspect about it after the first 3 or 4 games. Not any more. Good hire.

He got ripped for Barkley over Darnold. Darnold sucks. Josh Allen was never going to be a guy taken at #2. Reading stuff like that is nonsense. The better pick here was probably Quenton Nelson. That would have taken some serious balls and I don't blame Gettleman for not doing it.

He got ripped for Jones over Haskins (or a non-QB in DE Josh Allen). Jury still out here, but I have confidence in Jones at QB. He is certainly a clear cut better option moving forward than Haskins. And I'm glad to have a promising QB rather than Allen.

He got ripped for trading Beckham. This one is great. I loved it the minute it happened. Love it even more. Peppers is great. Let's not forget they got a 1st round pick in that deal as well. That turned out to be Dexter Lawrence and he has been good too. Easy win in this trade and it's not even close.

He got ripped for letting Landon Collins go. We don't miss him whatsoever. Peppers has elevated to a level above Collins this year to be honest.

He got ripped for the Leonard Williams trade. LW has been an absolute monster. Worth the pick. Worth the franchise tag. He is still young, now showing what he's capable of, and I hope they can hold onto him.

He started getting ripped for Andrew Thomas after a rough start when the Giants were facing off against top 5 DLs in the league. Now he is settling in and playing well. Crickets from the Gettleman-trashing squad.

Credit where credit is due. Of course, the Gettleman haters will be put in a precarious position of admitting that on some level he isn't a trash bag of a GM and he does have a good idea of what he's doing.

it's still a bad pick. The argument was that you shouldn't take a RB that high due to injury risk, career length, and the cost of a 2nd contract. How Darnold would have developed with the Giants is unknown. They also could have traded down.

For context, Nick Chubb was picked in the 2nd round, 1 pick after the Giants 2nd rounder.

yes the haters will say the jury's still out blah blah, but they had no problem rush judging before anyone even stepped onto the field, hypocrisy at it's best.

whatever memo may have been sent out months ago, the ravens game was postponed because the ravens were not capable of playing. the broncos were not capable of playing due to covid rules but were forced to do so. if the broncos were 7-4 instead of 5-6 the game would have been postponed. just consider how farcical it would be if there was a week 17 game to decide a playoff spot where one team wasnt allowed to play with a quarterback.

Darnold probably would have followed a completely different development path had he found himself playing for a legitimate franchise. He sucks primarily because what the Jets have done to him, not because of lack of ability.

You could see the strides in his rookie season that he was making. This season is just such a dumpster fire and he does have blame in it too, but he's not being put in a position to succeed. I just hope they didn't break him. He needs to go to a team where he will get time to work things out and not start off the bat and learn from a more experienced guy. Still very young and has plenty of time to improve.

I look at a team like the Raiders and see a spot there. Carr has one more year where he has money attached to him, but even that dead cap isn't bad. They can roll Carr next season since he has been good this year, let Darnold sit in behind him and potentially be the guy the following year. Carolina is another. Bridgewater was only for 3 years, so two left and a small amount of dead money in the last year. Matt Rhule would also be a great developer of him.

I just want to see him succeed after leaving Gase. We have seen it with Tannehill and it would just put a nail in the coffin of Gase's NFL career.

Detroit may give up on Stafford after this season so that's another possible landing spot.

I do feel for darnold. He was set up to fail here. He's still only 23.

Darnold to SF. Goes home to California. Jimmy G's backup. Shanahan is a great offensive coach.

Darnold was put in a terrible position but a lot of people thought that he was cream of the crop of the best QB class since 04. No matter how bad of an organization he joined he's been an utter disappointment.

Jesus, you guys crowing about Gettleman after the Giants just BARELY beat one of the worst teams in the league that also happened to be missing their starting QB and starting RB... smdh. Who also have one of the worst defenses in the league that we managed to put up a whopping 10 points against before Jones got hurt.

Their other wins this season are against Washington and Philly. In any decent division talk of making the playoffs with this team would get you laughed out of the room. The NFC EAST IS HISTORICALLY BAD THIS YEAR.

Pleeeease make sure to show up back here after the Seattle, Cleveland, Baltimore, and Arizona games.

The Saquon pick is still a terrible use of draft capital. Daniel Jones was an overdraft and it's still wayyyy to early to make any kind of judgement positive OR negative about it. The LW trade is still terrible. You do realize we didn't sign him long term, right? He's going to be a free agent after this year? And even if we do sign him, then we're losing Dalvin Tomlinson, who was already on the team when Gettlemen traded for him, not to mention that he then used the 15th OA pick to draft another DT in Lawrence.

Andrew Thomas is finally showing that he's at least a decent LT and not a bust... And yet almost every other 1st round tackle in that draft still looks better than he does.

It sure looks like he got the Judge hire right, but that doesn't change the fact he totally blew the Shurmur hire.

Feel free to rage all you want against bullshit ESPN-tier Giants coverage, but all the legitimate gripes against Gettleman still stand and I'm still here to make them all day every day.

The evaluation of him coming out was that he was:

a) very talented
b) young for a QB
c) had developed a lot of bad habits in his last year at USC that needed work

SO basically he was a raw, young, very talented QB that needed to be nurtured. That didn't happen at all.

He wasn't expected to light the league up right away. He had an ok rookie season but was much better last year. 7-6 record as a starter, albeit against some bad teams, and improved stats. But this year has been a disaster.

Are you sure Garappolo is returning to SF? His contract has no guaranteed money after this season.

That was one of the reasons I named them. I didn't realize it was that soon - knew it was sooner than later. But they'll probably cut bait because of money alone

Shanahan could bring in Darnold plus a QB that knows his system.

Yeah, they could restructure it though. Regardless I think there is going to be a lot of QB movement in the offseason. If trade offers are similar I hope the Jets give Sam the choice in his destination.

I think the Arizona game is winnable, but I don't expect them to win any of those games. Especially if Jones is out.

The Giants are rebuilding. This has nothing to do with record and everything to do with seeing progress. It was a rough start to the season, but you can clearly see the progress is there. They play hard and, by the way, beating bad-to-mediocre teams is progress for the Giants.

Going on about the Saquon pick is tired news. It was him or Darnold. You can argue it all you want, but nobody was telling the Giants to forego Saquon for anyone else except Darnold. The narrative would be that Gettleman made a bad pick at #2 if they had Darnold instead.

I don't understand the vitriol towards Gettleman. He took one last shot with Eli at QB and a team that was a year removed from 11 wins and a playoff slot. It didn't work, and he pivoted the very next draft. Yet people are still crying about it, and it's the basis for ripping Gettleman about everything he does. While at the same time never giving him any credit. Yawn.

Ravens Steelers is now a Wednesday game. The NFL is a joke. They need to set a standard of which games are postponed vs which teams are forced to play with scrubs that they follow 100%. Playoff spot is not a good enough reason.

Edit: I may have misheard a rumor about the game being on Wednesday. I still think its a joke how some teams get a postponement when their qb can't play and some don't.
