I dunno what it is...maybe it's covid....maybe it's because I know I'm not going to be able to go to any games this year at Met Life...maybe it's because I know for a fact that the Jets are going to suck. I don't know what exactly it is but this is the first year I think ever that I wasn't chomping at the bit for the NFL to start.

I've barely done any research for my big $$ fantasy team. I haven't followed with a fine toothed comb all the transactions, cuts and pretty much anything with regards to football. It's friggen bizzarre. Now I know I'll start doing some cramming for my draft coming up this Wednesday but by now I'm fully prepared with my lists already too go.

I dunno maybe I'm on an island here and not saying I'm not going to watch the games when they are on but the NFL this year....meh no biggie. Maybe when hockey is over and baseball I'll get into it but for now I'm just not into it like I usually am.
I read an article a few days back that was like, "The start of the NFL season is just a week and a half away!" I was like, shit, really? I guess it was the lack of a real camp, no preseason, etc. It snuck up on me.

I don't really care about it right now. Football is number 3 for me and I'd rather watch Navy's college games than anything the Jets do. It may grow on me, as I've reluctantly gotten somewhat into the baseball season. Who knows. Right now I don't really care.

I’ll watch but I’ve not been into it at all. I dropped out of my auction fantasy league bc i couldn’t bring myself to care enough to do the tons of prep work and 5 hour draft.

part of it is Covid and knowing the season could be screwy. Part the Jets have just worn me out.

I'm bummed the Giants cut Connelly and he was claimed by the Vikings off waivers.

He showed a lot in those few games. He was hurt this preseason and the regime change didn't help.

Ok Giants fans - has the Giants’ O-line situation improved enough to take Saquon over Zeke at #2 in fantasy drafts this year?

I'll start with the necessary caveat that it's pretty hard to predict just what this Giants team/offense is going to look/play like considering this is Judge's first coaching gig and there's no preseason. Obviously there's reason for optimism considering Zeke's old coach Garrett is the O-coordinator and Dallas' old O-line coach Marc Colombo was brought over as well (I love that hire).

That being said, the line was not good last season. This year, our presumed LT opted out, so our rookie tackle, #4OA pick, will be starting at LT instead of getting eased into the league at RT. Our LG, Hernandez, looked like a steal his draft year, but regressed badly last season. Our Center... is either a 5th round rookie guard being moved to a position he's never actually played during a real game, or our backup center from last year. RG is ideally the most solidified spot w/the vet Zeitler. Our RT... is either Cam Fleming, a guy who was a backup for Dallas the last two seasons, or Peart, a 3rd round rookie who was widely agreed on to be a "project." And lastly, our starting TE, Evan Engram, who I do really like, is not much of a blocking tight end... and that's being generous.

Not to mention our defense, which was fairly atrocious last year, made what I would consider rather limited improvements in terms of personnel. And personally, I'm not particularly inspired by the hiring of our defensive coordinator, who in his only season as a full-time D coordinator, last year, was responsible for the worst in the league Miami Dolphins defense. Needless to say, I'm not expecting many games where the Giants are going to be maintaining a clock-management/protect a lead/run-heavy style of offense.

There's no way I'm assuming all that risk with the #2OA pick.

I think the Giants will be fun to watch this year. That offense is gonna be real good now that everyone’s healthy. High scoring games. Good fantasy stack games.

I say they go 7-9. still think they’re a cut below Dallas and Philly.

the Jets could be fun or awful. Idk. They’ll prob suck something awful. Not really all that invested other than seeing Darnold take steps forward and hopefully see development from some of our picks. This is a multi year effort but I like what Douglas has done.

jets go 5-11. Giants 7-9

Appreciate this response. I was aware that they picked an O lineman 4OA but it’s hard to gauge what the line is going to look like overall. Saquon is such a fun player but Zeke seems like an absolutely no risk pick this year, although the changes on the Dallas coaching staff may impact them in ways not anticipated.

I’ll watch of course, to be pissed at the Jets of course. Year 3 of Darnold, with the worst receiving corps in the league, nothing like wasting the most valuable thing in the NFL, the rookie QB contract.

I’ll be stunned if we don’t have at least a top 5 pick next year, with the possibility of the 1 pick. I would say the Jags are probably worse, but not many other teams if any.

f*** the NFL and f*** the Jets. I'll probably end up watching though :help:

lol, as a Giants fan who dumped his season tickets at a loss i have zero faith and hardly any interest in this team.

Trevor Lawrence is actually a possibility with both this roster and assumed brutal schedule. Gettleman would neither pick up the phone or draft Lawrence at #1 overall. No faith

The Giants have way too much talent on offense to be a 1st overall kinda team.

lol, they are awful. Look at that schedule and find me the wins. They have zero pass rush and a putrid secondary.

The Vegas over/under for win total is 6.5, which is absurd, with Jacksonville trailing by only two at 4.5.

They have Washington twice. They always take one from Dallas it seems like.

They have Chicago, Arizona, Cincy and Cleveland which are all winnable. The Rams are falling off.

I'm not saying they'll be great. But I don't think they're gonna be a candidate for the worst team in football.

Do you think they're worse than the Jets?

But do you think they should draft him should they have the chance? What would you expect to get for Jones in a trade?

Jets are probably going to win 6 games this year, but I'd argue they'll actually be a better team than last year. The offensive line alone looks significantly better. We didn't need to get a center out of retirement to fill a need. McGovern is actually solid. Becton, even as a rookie, should be an improvement. The right side is where my worry is. Fant is a question mark in my book. Came from a team with an awful OL, and he is switching to the right side.

Defense lost Adams, but they played all of last season without Mosley and got Williamson back. Corner situation looks better too. I trust Gregg Williams will get that unit working.

WR is rough still, but has upside with Mims and Perriman. Herndon needs to stay healthy. Could be a breakout year for him.

Still thinking 6-10. Likely an 0-3 start on top of that. Just give me Darnold progression this season and find out about this rookie class which seems to be actually good.

Well, i do believe the Giants have the worst record over (i forget now) in the league over the past 3 years. Besides one playoff run i do believe they have taken over the basement from the browns

Dallas has defeated the Giants 6 straight times and 11 out of the last 14 times lol

The Cards actually beat the Giants last season

Chicago home opener with new QB Nick Foles and that defense - ahh?

Cincy, idk, that roster looks pretty good but maybe

Browns - that roster looks pretty good too

Rams - yes, they are falling

The Jets are pretty bad too.

YES!!!! - if i have a chance at the next John Elway type i take him. I don’t care what i get for Jones if the Giants are in position to take Lawrence. Tells me Jones didn’t do much.

I gotta think in that situation the Giants would need to convert a 6th overall pick for more than the 3rd rounder they gave up for a former 6th overall pick, especially considering he had a pretty good rookie season all things considered. The Jets are experts at trading high 1st rounders still on their rookie contracts. At least with Adams they got more than a 3rd rounder in return.

it’s a QB league so i wouldn’t care. If the Giants are in a position to grab Lawrence tells me Jones didn’t do enough. They’ve wasted so many picks as is i don’t care anymore. Even McAdoo wanted to trade up for Mahomes and the Giants didn’t budge. I’ll take the next John Elway and not look back.

I've been thinking about this scenario for the Jets a lot lately.

If they end up with the 1OA, you assume Darnold probably had a bad year. He doesn't progress and you feel he's not the guy.

Do you take Lawrence and trade Darnold for whatever you can get?

I know my answer but I wonder what the team would think.

You either trade Jones/Darnold or ransome the pick if the QB was fine.

The answer is easier for the Jets than the Giants. Neither the Jets GM or coach drafted Darnold so have no issue selling high(ish) on him. For the Giants its a different matter. Judge may be a new coach but Gettleman has essentially invested his credibility on thinking highly enough of Jones to draft him well above consensus at 6. Him selling high would be a lot harder to swallow IMO.

Yeah I would move on easily from Darnold if he's not the guy.

NFL teams seem to be unwilling to cut bait so quick though. Rarely do they take 2 QBS top 3 within 3 years.

Outside of a total disaster, I bet most teams trade that #1 before moving on from Darnold so quickly.

I think that decision would kinda make itself at that point. If the Giants stink so bad that they can select Trevor Lawrence then presumably Jones had a bad season.

I see some good stuff in Jones but I am not married to him and if the Giants have the chance to take a player of Lawrence's caliber I would hope they do it.
