What do you guys thinking of trading down with Ottawa #22 for #28 and #33? I think may be a little in our favor but as much as I normally prefer not to trade down this may be the draft to have 2 picks in that 25-40 range.

I don't rule it out, depending on how the board breaks. But we could have either a scenario where we get two guys I really like at 28 and 33, or two guys I don't like as much.

It's easy to dream about trading down and coming away with two of Greig, Perrault, Bourque and Khustnutdinov (as one example). But the reality is you could also have scenario where it's Wiesblatt and Wallinder on the board.

If I had pen and ink that could write my draft dreams into a reality, I think at this point I've sold myself on the idea of taking Lapierre at 22. Or, if we don't think we can get him there, making a trade with Montreal or Chicago to get him.

All things being equal, I think I want to take that kind of swing in 2020.

his injury history has me a little gun shy about trading up...but if drops to 22 I'm on the bus with you and @jas to swing for the fences

Is dronov still eligible for 1 draft? Seems like a guy that will be signed and teams will regret missing out on.

If Lapierre is there at #22 I would be ok with that but trading up for him not so sure. Montreal has a ton of picks so not sure what we could possibly offer to entice them. I really doubt Montreal is trading down in this draft. They need quality no quantity.
With Chicago we would probably have to offer Georgiev or something like that plus 22. so I would rather take my chance on a Bourque and Georgie rather than just Lapierre.
Having said that if Mercer is available at 17 you have to do whatever you can possible to trade up. The Devils getting him would not be good.

I can't say I would trade up without hesitation. The hesitation is there.

But the more I study his game, the more I look at what we've done in previous drafts, and the more I look at what we have in Lafereniere, the more comfortable I am with saying "f*** it" and going for that big swing. I don't know if we'll be in this kind of position again any time soon--- not like this.

I freely admit that its one of the riskier moves I could put out there for the draft. Knowing that the other team could get a very good prospect and a roster player, while we come away with nothing.

But I feel like we have the capital to take that chance and Lapierre's upside makes it very tempting.

But yes, I totally get that it is not going to be everyone's cup of tea.

Thoughts on 3 concussions in 8 months?
I too am high on him but its a little concerning. Anyone have any medical updates on Lapierre? Wish the season went on so we can get a better gauge on him.

I would avoid Lapierre--at least in the first round. If I were to take a chance on him I would need a 2nd rounder. I don't like the injury issues and there are others I know I'd be happy to take at #22.

Ok so who are we taking at 28 and 33 lol. Some sens fans would be ok making that trade for 22.
Maybe a Reichel/greig still there at 28 and At 33?

if this draft is so deep and the difference between (say) #15 and #35 is slight, then why not? The Senators have so many picks after their top two #1’s.

If this is the case I think he may push top 10.
I would be shocked. Who would he push out and what team would take a chance on him?
Then again not many picked Seider to go so high to Detroit.
The only team maybe I could see would be the Wild at #9.

When I say push top-10 I mean I see him going like 11-14

But I could see any of NJ, Winnipeg, or Minnesota making that pick if they’re feeling bold and the guy they really liked went right before they picked (Ie NJ really loves Holtz and Sanderson, for example, but they go 5 and 6) and it creates a chain reaction of off the board picks.

Went over to Elite Prospects and the only Dronov it seems there that you could be talking about is Grigori Dronov a 22 year old playing for Magnitogorsk. I would think he'd be too old for this draft.

Could be a lot of guys. I like Heineman, Reichel, Peterka, Perreault. I also wouldn't be against Blomqvist.

I'm having multiple servings myself.
