That's what has made this entire debacle so shocking. Something, whatever it may be, went very wrong at some point.
I think he still makes it, and the more I think about it, I think he makes it here. I don't think someone whose greatest strength was drive just craps the bed and slinks off, unless he had a Come to the Universe moment with some ayahuasca.

I do not believe that unless absolutely necessary (complete cap hell) that Gorton will trade a top-6 forward for simply a pick or prospect. For that to be even entertained, they would have to absolutely LOVE the prospect. Think Zegras from last year. Picking first, I do not sense that that type of love is there. But it makes no difference. Unless the situation is out of control, the pure asset gathering portion of the rebuild is done. If Buchnevich is to be traded, it will be for someone or someones that will help the everyday line up.

Buchnevich was trending to 55 points last year. That is first line territory.

I thought they loved Cozens more than Zegas. Didn't the pay for Cozens' suit?

There were no issues.

Literally, none.

You talk to anyone who knew this kid, coached him, played with him, talked to him, they ALL raved about him.

As our resident insider, any idea on why things went south? I know Lias alluded to something (perhaps bullying?) and I know the rumors were that he stayed up late to play video games with his friends back in Sweden.

How about we give this kid a legit chance to play instead of watching McKegg stink up the place?

I've met the kid a few times. I hope he can put together a good NHL career. I'd love him to do it for the Rangers. Unfortunely, the odds are not favorable.

No, that was a weird rumor that popped up on here because of some random person on social media. Never happened. Zegras was their choice at 6, and the guy they were hoping to get back into the top 10 for. Had Edmonton on the phone right up until the last minute.

It's kind of complicated and not really something worth speculating on. Long story short I think Andersson was dealing with some thing, fell into some really bad habits, and things started coming down fast.

I personally, felt the Rangers did not maximize the opportunity to see what Andersson could do. But I've beaten that horse to death and don't have anything new to add.

The mighty Quinn..

The guy I like is Braden Schneider, he's a guy who if he pans out, can make Trouba expendeble.

Not because Schneider is going to be a what Trouba is, but rather Schneider can fill a role that Trouba does for the Rangers.

You have RHD offense from Tony D and Foxie. You don't need that from Trouba, and you get that hard hitting RHD from Schneider to off-set those minutes, and off-set that cap hit while filling those minutes.

Might not be there at 23 or so, but with Talon being fired, I can see the Panthers not going with Guhle or Schneider as their annual 1st round need pick.

Something to think about, because this player panning out.... it's $7.2 M in cap savings for the Rangers.

Kid hits like a truck.

I think he’s top 15 worthy.

It's well documented that I don't have much faith in Gorton so I'll leave that there.
JD, who I do have faith in was only here for what?
A few weeks at that point?

In any case.. The kid never got a legit shot and was completely mistreated.

That blame starts with the clown who coaches this team.

This is from January. It’s amusing how many people have already changed their tune.

Dude Lias Andersson is not a good hockey player. Get over it.

It does and it doesn't. He certainly earned more of a shot than he was given, but at the same time, he could've done more than what he did, and could've had a better approach to things. At this point what's done is done, but I do very much hope he'll eventually be back in a Rangers jersey.

EDIT:
A. This is coming from one of the bigger Andersson supporters
B. The fact that they specifically said it was a mutual decision for him to stay in Sweden for this year was a good sign that the relationship is slowly mending

It legit makes no sense they act like we’re the Yankees or something

I sort of get it in the sense that when players like Panarin and Shattenkirk take less money in FA to come here or MSL says he'll ONLY accept a trade to NY, I can see why small market teams hate that, but NYC is a very desirable place to live - especially if you are well off. Should the Rangers not use that to their advantage but let teams like Tampa and Nashville use no state income tax to theirs?

My reading of Lafreneire's scouting report was that he was seen as a tier above Hischier, Johnson, Hughes, but a step below the Ovechkin, Crosby, McDavid level.

More like the Taylor Hall, Nathan Mackinnon, John Tavares level.

I'm not necessarily a huge supporter but do like LA.
What really bothers me is the way his and Kravstov's development are being handled.
They are 1st rounders and the potential is there if brought along properly..

Yeah, that's the common sentiment

I've seen quite a bit of Huberdeau comparisons. That may not sound amazing at first, but if Huberdeau played on a team that literally at least tried to exist, he'd be thought of very highly.

Huberdeau is already though of highly.

I can see it but Laf is bigger, better at the same age and plays much angrier.
