I LOVE to see this.

All good questions. It depends where the pick falls. As much as I despise Boston I want them to win so we pick 20-22. It’s a deep draft so you can get a real good player there especially is somebody falls a bit. I think it’s an attractive trade piece to package with something else to get a number 2 C tooWho do we think the Rangers will take with their second 1st round pick (assuming they don't trade it away in a deal)? Do they take Gunler, Bisson, Greig, etc.. or do they go for defense and if yes, who do they draft. Do we think that second first round pick could be an impact player for us?
Based on what?I feel it’s likely that Newhook ends up better than Chytil.
After Lafreniere I'd be angling towards Europeans.
That pick was an absolute nightmare for Ottawa.
Zibanejad put up a higher PPG the year immediately following the trade in both the regular season and playoffs than Brassard. In 2014-15 Zibanejad put up 9pts in 12 playoff games (37 pts in 56 regular season games) while Brassard put up 11pts in 19 playoff games (39 pts in 81 regula season games).
Brassard was with Ottawa for 2 years and a single playoff run. Ottawa essentially acquired a playoff rental by trading away someone who outperformed the rental in the short-term and to make matters far worse, who developed into a true 1C who is one of the league's best goal scorers at the moment.
That's brutal asset management. They could have got similar production from a deadline rental without trading away a player who became a franchise center.

If they keep the pick and Reichel is there, I'd be doing backflips.
Laf+Reichel is an A+++++ draft before even getting to the other picks.
I think he would be worth taking a shot with. I understand the desire for a little more grit/physicality but he could be tremendous talent as he continues to develop. And Laf is like the A++ in that regard?
Reichel is another soft playmaking winger, no thanks ... I'd favor Peterka tbh, but would generally stay away from both.
Why? If all things are equal take the north american who is used to the north american game, save yourself a year.
I do not think that is the type of player that Gorton, JD or Quinn are looking to bring inI think he would be worth taking a shot with. I understand the desire for a little more grit/physicality but he could be tremendous talent as he continues to develop.

Laf+Reichel is an A+++++ draft before even getting to the other picks. They can take a goalie with every other selection and I wouldn't care.
Or Kushnutdinov. Or anyone that I don't hate who may fall.
True but could be other ways to find that player. I'm ok with grabbing a really physical middle/bottom six guy if they think waiting until the third round will make it harder to select someone like that. Just please make sure he can somewhat skate.I do not think that is the type of player that Gorton, JD or Quinn are looking to bring in

Is anyone else worried that they'll overreact to our series against the Canes and have a draft full of McIlraths? I guess it would only matter for the 2nd first rounder since the 3rd rounder is not a premium pick and we're taking Alexis with the first overall.

Not sure if anyone posted this
What would Alexis Lafrenière mean for the NY Rangers prospect pool?
“the Rangers' top long-term position of need — who could fall into the picks 20-31 range. Keep the names Mavrik Bourque, Seth Jarvis, Hendrix Lapierre and Connor Zary”
The pandemic in the United States does not respect artificial state borders and makes things here way too iffy.
Canadian leagues have a chance this year. I don't think in the United States we're going to have any live hockey for a while. I would expect no AHL or ECHL, no NCAA, no USHL in the coming year. These leagues don't have the resources to set up a bubble. Even with the CHL leagues I would expect some stoppages, some relocations, some rescheduling to get a season in.
So to me your European draft pick has a much better chance of actually being able to play this year compared to his North American counterpart.
