... but somehow a defensively responsible center prospect like Lundell doesn't fit that bill and is tanking.
Regarding the tanking, I misread your post. So that is my bad.

Regarding Lundell, the answer is no, he does not fit the bill as he is a prospect and may not step into the role for another 5 years. That is NOT what the designs of the trade are about.

I'm gonna have to take out a small loan to buy all the Jersey's I want. There are ALOT of good options. Speaking of small loans, imagine how expensive tickets are gonna be when MSG opens up.

Oh, well I don’t think I see too many people advocating that. I would only consider moving Chytil if it was like Chytil plus first for someone like Newhook.

That is the dumbest thing ever. Newhook is not a proven NHLer or close to it. He's got the potential, but Chytil has been in the league since he was 18. He's 20 and has been proving better each year (minus giving away the puck so often).

If the Rangers are moving the Carolina pick, it's for an upgrade at the center position or to move up/back in the draft for other draft capital.

I mean, I’d do it for Cirelli.

I think the Carolina 1st rounder gets you Cirelli. He's under utilized in Tampa and I think NYR could offer low and see if he can progress in a 2C role. If anything, use Strome as the sweetener. Both RFA's in October-November Free Agency, Cirelli will cost less.

Not sure about that. Reading main boards a mid-later first isn’t gonna cut it.
Cirelli would be a nice fit here for sure but think it may take more than just the Skjei first

Well, what is the excess on the right wing? One that necessitates a Buchnevich move?

I can name at least 5 wings that will surpass him relatively soon or are already better - Panarin, Kreider, Lafreniere, Kakko, and Kravtsov. Chytil may be a wing too.

Well, he'd fit the bill in 5 years. We'd just need another stopgap till then.

Ironically that's kind of exactly when I would think Zibanejad will be slowing down.

Though I also think Lundell will not take 5 years. More like 3, if he's not ready to play this year even.

There's a lot of things called "the dumbest thing ever," on these boards that are no actually in any way the "dumbest things ever."

Since when do moves only make sense when they are for proven NHLers? And since when is Chytil a proven NHLer? He scored 23 points last year, that is not some lock that he's gonna turn into a second liner anymore than Newhook's potential from being in the minors.

You are trying to get better. Every move is a calculated risk.

If your position is that teams never take such calculated risks to trade 20 year old 23 point players for higher rated 19 year olds who haven't played in the league yet, I would bet that is not remotely true.

Yeah, but what a fun way to blow several hundred bucks!

Haven't seen this posted yet (apologies if it has been), but this is my favorite analysis video yet. He might be pumping his tires a bit much, but I choose to believe.

Yannick is good at pointing out the easy things, but he does tend to over estimate the positives and negatives on some players. For youtube scouting, he's not bad.

Scouching on youtube is probably your best bet to see some legit scouting for free. Will has an incredible grading scale too find underrated talent and keeping constants. Ryan Barr with CrossBarr Hockey is a good professional look, too.

I STILL can’t believe we’re actually in the timeline where we will have a player like Lafreniere for the next 15+ years. Wow.
Neither can I, probably because I've been conditioned as a Rangers fan to never imagine these things happening. I don't think it will be real to me until I see him on the ice in a Rangers jersey.

How does Alexis Lafreniere compare to Jagr as a prospect? I know it's hard to compare him to an all-time great but great hands, more of a playmaker at wing, but can score well sounds like Jagr.

None, he's closer to Vinny Lecavalier in terms of vision, toughness and scoring. Think he is actually turns out to be a better NHL player than Vinny, though.

Wanted to get a temp check on Tyson Forrester here. Yay or Nay with a late 1st?

I personally would be all over him with a 2nd round pick but I think he can sneak into the top round. Skating is ohhhh so horrible but he does so many things well and the wheels can always improve.

Sure if we want him and he could add to the bottom future 6 just root for the canes to lose before ecf. You could Possibly trade down a bit in the first with the Skjei pick get a late first and a second as well.

Panarin and Kreider, I'll give you that.

Until it happens (if), Chytil is a center. Kravtsov is unproven, Kakko needs to take that next step (which I think he will), and Laf is still ultimately unproven (that said, he will likely be a superstar sooner rather than later).

Some people are severely underrating Buch. He's legit a 55-60 point winger.

Buchnevich is not a 55-60 point winger. He is now 24 years old and has played with some very good talent on his lines the last 2 years.

His 4 year career totals are 20, 43, 38, and 46 points. This is about what he is.

If you are giving me Panarin and Kreider you might as well give me Kakko and Lafreniere too.

Come on.

There is no realistic scenario where they both don't pass him like immediately.
