I don’t think they keep the Carolina pick, but if they do (And want a center) I like Bordeleau over Perrault in that tier

And Lafreniere will be a line driver as well.

I would encourage people to really study video of this kid. He's not a support player for a center. He's a catalyst.

In terms of role on a team, or a line, think Jagr, think Panarin, think Gaborik. We've had wings drive the offense before.

Kakko too in a year or 2

Starting to have second thoughts Re: Laf vs Byfield. With Byfield we have no more holes, assuming he pans out. Zib - Byfield down the middle is juicy AF. Someone talk me down pls.

Right now we're looking an awful lot like the Jets.
You are overthinking it.

We should take the BPA (Lafreniere) and sort out the rest down the road.

Yeah. The Oilers didn't pick Hanifin 1st overall just because they needed a defenseman. They had Nugent-Hopkins and Draisaitl at the time already as centers and they still went with McDavid. If you pick 1st overall, you go with whoever is the best player, regardless of position.

Yeah now that we won the lottery I see it very likely we trade the Carolina picks especially if it ends up being in the 20-22 range in a deep draft and put that in a package to get a number 2 C

In another draft year you may have been on to something, however, in this draft year the consensus #1 OA is a player that you build your organization around. It's the same logic that kills every trade idea as well. Just because we have lots of great wingers, that doesn't make Laf available, to the contrary, getting Laf makes other wingers available. You keep the best foundational player and make other moves around him.

I'd honestly do what i can to get the top 2 picks in this draft. I'm willing to part with Kreider + Car 1st + Deangelo for Byfield but am picking Lafreneire no matter what at 1.

Haven't seen this posted yet (apologies if it has been), but this is my favorite analysis video yet. He might be pumping his tires a bit much, but I choose to believe.

I'm in love. He is the complete package. And given his drive, if he needs to improve his skating, he will. That's a franchise player. But, we should definitely consider trading him for Barkov, or perhaps to the Canadiens for a package pretty good players because, why do we need a player like Lafreniere?

Yes, can we stop overthinking this? Lafreniere is a franchise-altering player, one this team hasn't been gifted since Brian Leetch. He doesn't fill a hole. You fill in around him. He will probably be the best player on this team in three years, and that's no disrespect to either Panarin or Mika. He is the total package, right down to his leadership.

i wouldn't rule it out and it depends on what deals are available but my guess is that they are slightly less willing to move that pick if they don't love the deal since we don't have a 2nd round pick....last year we had 2 2nd round picks, still having 3 picks in the 1st 2 rounds makes it easier to move 1.

Who is this mystical top 6 C that we will obtain with our spare parts? And why will that team trade them to us?

Seems more likely that instead of getting an established top 6 center, which is much more expensive, you could simply try to move up 10 spots in the draft from ~20 or ~22 to ~12 or ~14 and get a sliding Lundell or Mercer or something. The sweetener for that could be any combination of Georgiev, Buch, Strome, a D prospect, or Lias Andersson, in addition to the Carolina pick.

To get a truly established young guy you are talking about dealing TDA, so that would be for a team looking for a #1 Right Side D and PP guy.

I’m glad you’re willing to part with that because 1. No way in hell LA would be willing to accept it and 2. Kreider isn’t being traded.
