So getting Cuylle and Peterson in the 3rd would be a killing. Starting also to like the idea of Perrault with the Carolina pick, although Khusnutdinov is now on my radar.

Stay away from Perreault in the 1st round. Uncommitted to the defensive side of the puck, he'll leave his teammates out to dry. Needs learn and play all three zones, I don't care how much offensive potential he has.

I'd rather have any of those guys at what ever iteration of their career they were in when they played in Chicago than Strome though.

Bolland in particular was a very good player before the injuries happened.

If he isn't scoring, then what exactly does he bring to the table? The PK sucks, we suck defensively as a unit. Strome doesn't help there.

Which superstar are we pissing away here? Trading the 1OA would be dumb, taking Byfield would be dumb. Moving some pieces for an upgrade on Strome would not be dumb IMO.
Lafreniere. Like trading a 1st overall pick to fill a position is insane.

I really, really, really want to like Perrault. The skills are loud and his shot is incredible.

But I mean you need to show some effort defensively. I don't care if you don't know what you're doing, that can be taught, but some willingness to work shouldn't be an issue.

HF Boards and Dylan Strome - A Journey

2015 - "He's a big talented kid with very good offensive skills. Would love to have someone like that."

2016 - "Why hasn’t this kid made it yet? What's wrong with him?"

2017 - "This kid looks great in the AHL, he's going to have an impact in the NHL soon."

2018/19 - "This kid doesn't look great." "No it's the Coyotes’ fault." "No, something is off here." "See, I told you - look at how he's doing with the Blackhawks. Wish we made that deal."

2020 - "This guy is trash." "No this guy is worth taking a flyer on."

2021 - TBD

Yeah, JD interview was pretty convincing. He said after talking with him (Laf), he expressed excitement for coming to NY. Can be interpreted other ways, but i'm pretty convinced listening to the way they hyped him.

Don't think there is one yet, but i'm sure it will be on MSG youtube soon.

JD talking about Laf wearing 11 and watching Messier growing up. Kid has insane long term memory I guess.

No, I don’t see the same pursuit of another top 10 pick coming this year.
This is a bit odd to me - with this huge bit of luck and an existing early 20s pick to keep a team in the 1st roundI would think this would be the time to pay 140 cents on the dollar for a guy they 'love' who drops around #10 or #11. Especially if they have him at #4 in your example, or a Lundell in my mind.

They certainly have the capital, draft pick and otherwise. At a certain point you can only ice so many kiddos.

I think the subtext here is that the Carolina pick is likely to be used in a trade for an NHL body.

I think they’d have to give up an NHL body to get into a high draft position. Right now, I think the preference is still to go the other way - picks for NHL bodies.

I think you’re more likely to see the Carolina pick moved for immediate help than you are to see the team move a roster pick for a higher draft pick.

This. And people want to trade all kinds of assets for a 2c. Lmao

Not sure you are accurately representing the position.

ADA is discussed but if it can bring back a future #1. That’s ALWAYS worth it.

Aside from that it seems to be about parlaying the Carolina pick and other excess assets (Georgiev, Buchnevich, Strome, maybe a defensive prospect, Lias Andersson) into a 5-10 spot move up to get a sliding center. None of those are gonna be core guys for us. Yet a team like Edmonton apparently was seriously weighing Buch for the 8th overall last year, so you might find a team who wants to move down from 15 to 24 for a free 2nd line winger like Buch. Pittsburgh, for example?

Yeah, I just don’t get it. Buch + Carolina pick and they won’t do it to get the 4th player on their board in Lundell? That means they think he’s a future star. Buch has no future here.

Just short sighted.

I'm talking about trading guys like Chytil, Kravstov, guys like that.

Oh, well I don’t think I see too many people advocating that. I would only consider moving Chytil if it was like Chytil plus first for someone like Newhook.

I saw people mention those guys and that's all i was saying. DeAngelo, Strome, Georgiev, Carolina 1st, i don't mind moving those guys for a piece we can add to the core or legit depth but i'm not moving our really young guys

Cuylle is a guy that came up from Rangers people earlier this season, so he was someone they were following.

The other names did not come up.

A top 100 with Lefreniere at 1, Perrault in the 20s, and Cuylle and Peterson in the third would give you a very diverse mix. You'd have some goal scoring mixed in there, definitely some sandpaper, and a little bit of a mystery box. You'd have at least three players who have a very clear role that they play, and would hopefully grow into.
Given their recent history, they’ll draft a boat in the later rounds as well. ;)

How fitting is it.

Rangers win the 1st Overall pick For the first time in who knows how long?

Rangers have an additional pick in Rd 1

The draft a stones throw away in the Bell Center ...and the draft goes virtual due to the bubonic plague!
