This meme needs to die.

Center depth is a nice to have, not a requirement.

Exactly. You've got plenty of high end talent. You now need to complement it. You can let Chytil continue to grow into the role as a 2C. You have pieces to target one in the upcoming draft. You don't have to to add an Eichel or Barkov to make your cap situation a disaster.

I think 22 would be a good choice too.

You don't think they'd look at centres with their second pick?

They could go for a kid like Khusnutdinov but late in the 1st round I'm not sure there are a ton of center prospects available that fit their criteria. I would not be surprised if the pick is packaged up with a kid like Chytil to trade for a center

The Rangers really regret extending Kreider right about now.

Rangers need Cs badly. I really hope we can get help in that area this draft somehow.
Why are they regretting resigning Kreider? I can actually guarantee that they are not.

What they needed was high end talent. What they needed was a franchise cornerstone. They have two of the latter and certainly have former. Now they need to surround the talent with depth and fix the left side of the defense.

Agreed. They aren’t regretting the resigning. Like they said if they had any doubts or more cons they would have traded him.

Honestly, if we even forget about what he does on the ice, there is no other player that I would want more to be a part of the team, as these kids are growing up.

I think the problem is that our fans saw what he did in the 2012 playoffs and immediately wanted him to be elite and anything less was a disappointment or “laziness” in their eyes. For a 19th overall pick he had been great value if not only what he does on the ice but like you said off the ice too. Is he inconsistent? Yes but so are most players besides the elite players

He is a legit top line player. He is an absolute force in the locker room. Like I said, Panarin is the team's best player, ZBad is the most important, Kreider is the heart and soul.

Depending on where the Canes pick is, Khusnutdinov would be my top choice. I'd also be good with Brisson and Mysak if he's still there for centers

Agreed. I accept who he is as a player and we see his importance. The only thing that drives me crazy is when people question his effort or being lazy. I mean this is the same guy who came back much earlier from a blood clot to help the team so I don’t buy the whole “He is lazy” nonsense

I'm still hoping Gorton can find a way to add a 2nd rounder this year

If we pick at ~20, and there are still 2-3 players on the board that are high on our list, i can see us moving 20 for something like 26 and a 50. Kinda the reverse of what we did to move up for KA Miller.

Admitedly, trading down in the first has not been the Rangers M.O. over the last 15 years or so. Generally they get their guy and they go home. I'm going to guess they do the same here.

In this case it makes sense because I feel like there is going to be a little bit of a dip somewhere in the mid-20s seperatings guys.

We could also package the CAR 1st and other goodies for a 2C.

I think that is definitely on the table.

I've always felt the Carolina pick was going to be in play for the right trade.

The top pick is obviously the sexy one. But there's a lot of interesting possibilities with the Carolina pick as well.

Top pick would have to be such a stupid overpayment. Do you really want to be the GM that passes on selecting Laf and all that entails with it? It's why a trade with the CAR 1st and other goodies is just more likely and logical.

What are people’s feelings on the mid round picks we may select in this deep class. We have had good success picking in the mid rounds. I know we don’t have our second rounder but have 2 thirds and the rest of our picks. Anybody have any idea who are possibilities?
