What is the current situation? I rather try to trade Lundqvist first and hold on to Georgiev until either Wall or Huska prove themselves. Lundqvist with some salary retained for 1 2nd round pick would satisfy me.

Lundqvist at 4.25m for 1 year, with a full NMC probably has less of a chance to get done in a trade than Georgiev.

Having two picks in rounds 1 and 3 is great, adding another pair in round 2 gives us 6 picks in the first 100 selections. That's great for the current situation of the Rangers
Wallinder and Petersen for Georgiev would not be horrible all things considered.

I would target Eamon Powell with one of those 2nd rounders to be honest and either Simontaival or Niederbach with the other. If we are going with a Swedish defenseman, I prefer Johannesson over Wallinder

I hear you on Johannesson, but the size and injury history scare me a little. Wallinder's size and potential make him a good value pick if he is around in the 2nd and the Rangers get an early 2nd. My gut is someone takes him in the first which could be a reach. Is Powell a RD? I can look that up...gonna try to watch some Simontaival game footage.

Yeah RHD. Also a May 2002 birthday, so he'd be on the younger side of guys in this draft

What injury history? Which Johannesson are you referring to here?

And Powell is a great prospect to grab in the 2nd. I think he has the same potential as Zac Jones.

and that's why they write the whole name on the draft card. Samuel is much less of a risk but Anton could have big boom potential.

I think Anton is something to keep an eye out for in the 3rd or 4th round. Can you imagine drafting both? That would be hilarious

The Rangers have already tried to corner the market on Lundqvists of all varieties. They are moving on to a new Swedish patronym.

Is he a shoot first winger who play on his off hand or a dman with a nice break out pass? Either one would probably end up killing Sam and or leaving Micheletti catatonic.

I'm curious as to what people's thoughts are on a getting two 2nd round picks. A team like LA could use Geo, and they have 3 2nds. If you get two, I think this is a year where you can get some gems. Some guys who don't get a lot of recognition are Emil Andrae, Helge Grans, Anton Johannesson (potential gem), William Wallinder, and Joni Jurmo. The latter two skate like the type of defensemen the Rangers like as bigger guys, and the smaller ones can all wheel it and move the puck. These guys may be 4-5 years out, but I would think the defensive pipeline ends up being set if you get two of these guys later in the draft.

With the cap staying the same and Lundqvist coming off the books soon, it might be necessary to keep Georgie. But, if they were to move him, I think NYR should use his trade value for immediate help to bolster the lineup. They are not too far away from fully competing again, so I think using the asset management would work wonders for NYR, especially since the cap is staying the same.
