Morgan Barron's brother Justin an RD was one of the big fallers this year in draft rankings. Apparently he was knocked out of the lineup in December with a blood clot issue.

I wouldnt put the Tkachuks in the same boat as Wilson. Wilson is a dirty player who professionally linerides on a good team. The Tkachuks are pests with world class skill. They control the game in both agitation and offensive threat. If they cant beat you in your head theyll just bully you in your own zone. The Tkachuks are phenomenal players imo.

Sure, more so Matthew than Brady, though. Brady has been up and down, but he's got time to develop.

Brady Tkachuk is a beast. Imagine him on the Rangers if somehow he had dropped to 9 (I know there was pretty much no chance in that happening)?! Is it true the Rangers really had VK second among forwards behind Svechnikov? That is not looking good if that is true. He is going to be a 35 goal scorer easy and a beast in the playoffs if Ottawa ever gets there in the near future.

I'm not worried about Kravtsov. The Rangers went for the boom and he showed it in the KHL. He wants to learn the NHL game. He'll be with NYR before anyone knows it.

What will be interesting and IMO a very tough decision will be where to put teams like Montreal/Chicago if they win the play in round? Are they then considered a playoff team and can pick no better than 16th overall or do they still have a chance to pick top 10 unless they make to conference finals? There are gonna be a lot of pissed off fans in montreal they wind up picking 16th just because they won a 5 game series against the Pens.

Who gives a shit.... they get a better shot at winning the cup. No one should complain if you make it in the post season....

Not to my knowledge, but he'd be a bot of a reach at their first pick. Would much rather use the second pick on him.

2-3 months before the 2018 draft, Kravtsov seemed to be a reach at 9, but we went for it anyway. Scheifele in 2011 was not close to a top 10 pick. Strange things happen on draft day

The Tkachuk's are shit stirrers extraordinaire with legit first line skills. They are bigger and much better versions of Sean Avery who wasn't a bad hockey player but nowhere near as skilled. I know a lot of people didn't like Brady and I remember hearing he only scored 8 goals--freshman year at Boston U. but he is a seriously good player. Some people are born to be hockey players and you can tell when they're always in the middle of everything. Both of the Tkachuk's are like that. You really can't go wrong drafting players like that.

If Holloway can bring the same kind of in the middle of everything game and he's around when it's our turn that would be a good pick IMO.

I can attest to Brady in his draft year. He did not look like the player he is in Ottawa when he played at BU (under Quinn mind you). Although I'm not a huge fan of the Brady, I do think Holloway could be someone of a similar calibre to Matthew and faster.

They used to call Gurianov not just a reach, but a total bust, and look where he's now.

I think, the main Kravtsov's problem, he was thinking too high about himself, than he actualy was. Sometimes it happens to kids. But talent is there, and it looked like he started to work really hard closer to the season's end, so there is a hope, he'll get back to a good NHL career trajectory.

To me there were two things--1) the adjustment to North America--the rinks, the culture, the disappointment of not making the Rangers out of camp 2) his frame--he's tall but kind of skinny and not that strong. All that is fixable but it takes a little time and patience. We did those things with Pavel and Buchnevich is coming into his own. Compare Kravtsov to Chytil--Chytil didn't have any apprehensions about the cultural stuff or going to Hartford. The Rangers originally were to going to send him back to his Czech team but Filip wanted to stay and went to Hartford. Filip is also built like a tank. Kind of built like Jagr. I still don't think he's figured out how strong he is. If and when he does he's going to become a much better player.

Yeah his second half was better than the first half.

No, because we already have his brother. I don't want another year-long debate about nepotism hahaha

I lived through the Maloney's, the Patrick's and the Ferraro's. That stuff doesn't bother me too much--though Steve Patrick was pretty mediocre and the Ferraro's never really made it.

RD is pretty stocked--we don't have a 2nd but if Barron somehow (and I don't think he will) dropped into the 3rd you'd have to consider him seriously--that said the blood clot thing I don't know. I think medicine has moved forward in that area but if you think there's serious health risks for him then you stay away.

The reason for bringing him up was it occured to me that the medical issue probably played a part in his mediocre season and why he fell so much. At the beginning of the year he and Drysdale were the two D that seemed to be talked up the most.

If Holloway was willing to be as much of a menace around the crease as Brady T was in the NCAA, I'd have no problem taking him at 13, but he isn't. Thats a giant, giant red flag for me because it's the only way he scores at the next level IMO.

There is a lot to like about his game but I honestly feel the offensive tool kit is pretty overrated, especially compared to other guys who would be around at that spot (or even later.) His reluctance to drive the net 1 v 1 is infuriating, especially since he's usually opting for a low percentage shot from 30 feet away instead. You've got the wheels, size and hands, use them.

I wouldn't touch him until 18- 20 at the earliest, but someone will.

Let me guess:

1. blood clot issue
2. RHD
3. the name Justin (?)

*totally with you
Yes, but:

So with the way this playoff format lays out we could end up with 1 lottery pick or none. Best case scenario I suppose is we beat Carolina and Toronto loses to CBJ. Both teams win the lottery, Toronto’s pick is top 3 protected so they keep it and we get Carolina’s pick. Win Win!
What am I missing?

The GM of Justin Barron's junior team last last week team's Facebook interview that Barron is now healthy and ready to go. https://www.facebook.com/HFXMooseheads/; conversation regarding Barron starts around the 19:35 mark); he's working out now.
