there was a rumor that oilers will move #14 for a later 1st+2nd...we have done this quite a few times (as the oilers)...would you guys want to do this to move up 10 spots? Might be a really good player there if some guys fall. I don't know many of the picks after the top 15 so idk how deep/great the later picks will be.

Yes, that is because Hogg had nothing to do with them winning, and he actually held them back. They won despite him. Hogg played poorly. It's very simple and logical. They would have stood to win even more if they didn't choose to drag the team down with an AHL dman holding the team back.

The fact that you can't explain why or how Hogg magically caused this winning, as you have long implied, points to this talking point of yours being fit for the trash can.
like this?

In Ghost's last game played....a 4-0 loss to NYI:

Ghost not on the ice for any goals against...only pairing that can say that
CF 27, CA 15....so 64.29%...Best D on the team
CF% Rel: 12.11...Best D on team
SF% Rel: 10.42...2nd best on team behind Braun his pairing Dman. Next best Dman was at 2.78. Nisky was -22.72!
High Danger...on ice for 4 chances for, 3 against....Best D on team. Sanheim outchanced 3-8!

Does that look like a performance that should get a Dman benched?

Hagg
was the replacement and the VERY NEXT game:

Hagg outchanced 7-19 Worst on team, CF% -21.31 Worst on team, HDCF rel% -30% Worst on team

But we won and Hagg never left the lineup again.

Or we could look at Ghosts play in the two games before getting benched for the rest of the playoffs... for Hagg. #graphtime

Again, indisputable fact is, quality of play means nothing to this staff. You literally can not earn a spot or playing time.

Flyers are certainly risk adverse to playing young players, I mean they played
Farabee (20), TK (22), Lindblom (23), NAK (23), Bunnaman (22), Provorov (23), Sanheim (23), Myers (23), Hagg (24), Hart (21)
in the playoffs.
So what other team had 8 starters and 10 players under 25 get ice time?

Saying they aren’t risk adverse to playing younger players. And using hagg over ghost seems like an odd hill.

it’s also a wildly disingenuous statement. Using a blanket of no context.

How is it disingenuous to point out that they had 8 starters under 25, nine if you count Lindblom, and also played Bunnaman in a couple games. And Patrick (21) would have played if healthy.
During the regular season, they also auditioned Frost (20), Vorobyev (23), Twarynski (22), Rubtsov (21), Kase (23), Friedman (24), Morin (24).

The fact that AV decided Frost and Bunnaman weren't playoff ready isn't some bizarre preference for "veteranness," just a judgment call. AV certainly had no problem playing Farabee, and he had veteran alternatives.

they are not going to fire the coaching staff after one year because fans are butt-hurt over getting kicked out of the second round. fletch didnt know what to expect with this team and how far this would go. i get that you want a cup so bad but getting rid of coaches every year isnt going to solve anything because players have to learn a new system which takes months to get use to, it doesnt take overnight to adapt and play like champions every year plus they are still paying 20 million for av, they are not going to scrap that and pay two coaches.

so if you dont have the patience for this team and coaching staff, quit complaining and dont root for them because nothing is going to change until year 3 or year 4.

If it takes 4 years before something changes then we should fire them both now. 4 years is a massively long time.

Fine. Bring back Del Zotto, Nick Schultz, or Colaiocovo. Or call up Prosser, Wotherspoon, or Bigras. What's Danny Syvret up to? John Slaney? How about Hal Gill? Ryan Parent? Bartulis? Delmore? Sad fact of life, particularly in a salary-capped league, is you're going to have some fringe players on the team. Hagg is a good team-first guy, better than he gets credit for by those who treat Corsi like EA Sports player ratings, and a cheap serviceable 6/7 in a league short on defensemen. The obsession with him is over-the-top.
FACTS. As for your last comment, it's downright strange to the point of being comedy. I guess someone eventually had to take over the mantle from PEB. I have no idea if this is common for other fanbases, but Flyers fans have always had a weird obsession and ridiculous set of expectations for 4th line Forwards and 6th D's.

Craig Smith, RW, 6'1 208 is hitting FA from Nashville.
He'll be 31, his scoring has fallen off, but he's a high energy guy with good metrics, a definite upgrade over Pitlick and a good match with Frost on the 3rd line.
Problem is he wants a 3 year deal, but see how the market looks, he might not be able to get a great offer, and then I'd pounce.

I'm good, i don't see a need for him really. He isn't a guy that brings us over the top and we already have jvr on 3 year deal, same age of 31, and making more $. on to the next one

If by weird and ridiculous, you mean being upset that replacements that are objectively better are sitting on the bench...

(I don’t think pebbles got anywhere near the venom that hagg gets—he was clearly overused here; he has proven in Vegas how effective he is when placed appropriately)

No need for him unless we are trading Laughton and/or JVR. Bottom 6 is too crowded.

LW is too crowded, RW we have a lot of inexperienced bottom six guys, now if Patrick was healthy, I'd be comfortable pairing him with Sandin or moving Farabee to RW, but with Frost, there's real value in a physical, experienced RW for a year or two.

I wouldn't give Smith a big contract, but if the market dries up for second tier FAs (which it might with a flat cap, teams with cap room may not want to sign older veterans, teams that could use older veterans may not have cap room) and he becomes available for say 2yr/$5M, I'd think about it.

Good metrics don't do it justice, deady. He's arguably one of the biggest 5v5 threat generators in the world. He's also a consistently negative Shooting talent player, so that dilutes some of the value created.

But hell yes I would find room for Craig Smith if his market doesn't shape up and you don't have to give him term. You can't have enough good players.

Do we have room for him AND Bobby Ryan, though?
