Jokiharju has been 1 pairing defenceman with Duncan Keith in Chicago. Brönsström has never even played in the NHL :D

Who?

And good for him. That doesn't necessarily mean he's better. Vegas doesn't want to rush Brannstrom and he's been very good in the AHL. It could well be that Jokijarju is better right now but it could be just as likely that he worked well on a piss poor Chicago defense. Whereas in Gallant and McPhee's case, Vegas has plenty of defenders and they wanted Erik to get AHL first pairing time.

To revise Finland’s defence: Urho Vaakanainen in, Lassi Thomson and Mikko Kokkonen out. That changes things a bit, but I’ll stick with my medal predictions for now!

Excellent read as usual Larry. Thanks!

Looking forward to your write ups with this being in your home province.

Nobody digs up those articles after a tournament and it's a pity. There will be many wrongs as always.

We can revisit this one for sure. Finland over Canada 5-2 tonight in a preview of my predicted gold-medal game. We shall see how that rematch plays out if and when they meet in the medal round.

Kakko comparable to Laine. WHAT THE F

No? Who do you compare him to? To me, that’s the obvious comparison since he’s likely going to come into the league in the same scenario, drafted second overall behind an American. That comparison will be inevitable, but I do see some similarities in their size and playing style as well as some differences. I’m looking forward to some live viewings of Kakko at the WJC where I can get a better read on him vs. Laine and other potential comparables. I see the Kakko thread is more so comparing him to Matthews than Laine, which is really intriguing to me. Can’t wait to watch him.

I get it, hype-wise, but Kakko plays more like...Peter Forsberg, actually. Really cool prospect

Yeah, but he is way better than Laine as a complete player. I thought of the comparision as a stylistic one which would be an awful comparison.

But yeah, the kid is gonna be a treat to watch, especially if you haven't seen him play this season!

Ecactly! He is a Forsberg/Jagr at the corners, as he is already bullying grown men. The assist against Canada was a great presentation of his play style.

I’ve seen the highlight reels and some complete shifts but looking forward to watching a couple/few full games in the medal round (in Vancouver). By all indications, I’ll be in for a treat.

One thing we won't see at the WJC this year. Is USA vs Canada on New Years Eve. I miss that. GO USA!!!!!!!
