Just thought I’d get this going. Believe the Sharks have just 4 picks as of now, hopefully they can add a few more picks.

I have to think that DW is gonna trade for some picks at least. I hope a higher pick for Braun/Dillon or trading back to add some lower round picks.

Sharks have 4 picks as of now, plus one conditional.

My notes: 2019 NHL Entry Draft

Own 3rd (91), 5th (153), 6th (184), 7th (215).
4th round pick to Buffalo (or Sharks can retain and give up 2020 3rd), but I'm guessing they'll let this year's pick go).

If you want to add picks.....
Sharks do need to know if they want to keep some of their journeymen around, or if they might trade some. There also may be some RFAs that might garner a pick or few. (There are a few guys signed that have NTCs, so some may not be available unless they are willing to move on.)

HOWEVER, the team would need to clearly identify (internal plan) how they are filling those holes (especially if from within).

I hope we keep Dillon and move Braun. Braun's body has to be held together by duct tape or he's just made of ballistics gel.

Draft Marc Del Gaizo and Filip Lindberg from UMass. Both are going to be very good and can go later in the draft. A little biased as a UMass fan but Del Gaizo has all the making of an undersized skilled d-man (think Torrey Krug) and Lindberg could develop into an NHL starter.

I’d love to see Melker get flipped for a 7th if he’s even worth it. Five picks last year and four this year just isn’t enough with the aging core of the sharks.

Which is one reason why the Sharks sign undrafted free agents.
No doubt, but more often than not those players don’t become much more than depth players if anything. There’s usually a reason they’re undrafted. As a huge proponent of drafting and developing players the more picks the merrier.

If Boston dominates the finals it's gonna be the happiest we've ever been not making the finals. We would have lost an additional 1st and 2nd and gotten humiliated by Boston. It sucks not having a 1st the next two drafts but it could have been worse.

For anyone that follows prospects, who are some projected late round guys that could be interesting? Assuming DW Jr. is looking for the high risk/reward type…

Personally hoping Graeme Clarke or Michal Teply are still on the board in the 3rd.

Even though we have no picks, I'm still excited to get some new guys into the system. Following player development is one of the more entertaining parts of sports to me.

If we can pick up a 2nd, I hope they go for Albin Grewe. He sounds like an interesting PWF gamble.

I don't see why not. He has 1 year left on his contract and is an excellent PK'er. He also is good for 15-20 points a year which is not bad for a 4th liner.

The hate on this board for Melkman is so overdone. He's a fine 4th liner who is a top level PKer, has some speed and can get around 10 goals each year. 2M is not a terrible contract for him. He will return more than a 7th rounder if we are shopping him. Here is what I'd think we realistically can get for players we possible will be trading.

Braun- two 2nd round picks
Dillon- 2nd and 3rd rnd picks
Melker- 4th round pick
Dell- little to nothing. Likely just a 7th or a useless prospect. Which sucks because a year and half ago he could have probably brought in a late 2nd or 3rd round pick.
Goodrow- 5th/6th round pick
Labanc- first round pick

A lot of what happens here depends on the contract demands of Labanc and if we sign Karlsson. Personally I don't see us trading Labanc. I assume one of those two D-men will be traded this off-season. Goodrow is more wishful thinking than anything but I think he'll be back. Same with Dell.

The guy I mentioned above Marc Del Gaizo should be available in rounds 4-7. Upside is Krug-lite.

I don’t hate on Melker at all I just don’t see a team putting a lot of value in a 2 million dollar 4th liner. I’d actually value Goodrow more than Melker. Barclay is a pretty decent face off guy, is arguably the more physical player and is also a good PK’er in his own right. He’s also signed for under a million if I’m not mistaken.

I think Melker is eating time that PDB would be giving to top-6 players. He has way too many of them on the PK already and we need to reduce their ice time by using bottom-6 players like Melker.

But don’t you think a guy like Alex True could step in and provide the same as Melker? Maybe even Jon Martin if he has a good camp.

Oh don't get me wrong. I am all for trading Melker. I think that position can be filled from within PROVIDED that PDB trusts the younger kids with the PK role.

I am just stating that Melker is a really good PK'er and is good for 15-20 points in a 4th line role. The 2M he gets is more than justified.
