October - six days off following a 1-1 start. Nice rhythm. 4 days off following the Saturday afternoon yawner. 1 game in 11 days. Brilliant.

November - not a single home Friday or Saturday night bout.

December - following the west coast road trip, one game in 5 days. I feel like there were more obscenely scheduled Saturday day games in both Nov/Dec

January - After western Canada, trudging through the middle of the month with Isles in 3 of 4, and of course another 1 game in 5 days, capped by the thoughtless 10 day break to bookend the AS game. 10 days? Unthinkable

Most senseless schedule ever? How can the league allow this? Truly, how could any club find a groove with this? Most importantly, how can this never occur again...

PR Specialist: We need an excuse for why the Rangers schedule is so screwed up.

PR Manager: Didn't they used to have the circus there midseason like a decade or two ago? Use that. Say the elephants warm the train station which screws the ice pressure metrics.

PR Specialist: No more Elephants sir.

PR Manager: .....go with fake news then.

PR Specialist: Perfect.

This bye week is like the eye of the tornado. Enjoy the calm. The second half is gonna be tank crazy.

Oh it's going to have phases though

- After sweeping the B2B vs the Wings: WE'RE IN IT! KEEP EVERYONE
- After dropping the next 2: We suck, Quinn Sucks, Gorton Sucks, trade everyone.
- They alternate wins and losses: I'd rather lose outright
- TDL: Lots of complaining
- They get housed post deadline: At least we get a better draft pick/we're becoming the Sabres/someone proposes a trade to bring Zucc back to NY.

You guys had about as much of a cracked up schedule as Tampa. I think we still had 2-4 games in hand during Christmas somehow played like 4 back to backs in a month and a 10 day ASG break

Teams in the Metro really can't complain about schedule. They play a majority of their games in a tight radius and spend alot of time in their own beds. Some of those western teams live on planes. Whatever you get, you get.

The Isles thing was also unnecessary.

The 3rd game was just like "get it over with already" but only 2 weeks before that I was like "wait, there's another NY team??? In hockey???"

OK, but they're competing against the standings against other teams who sleep in their own beds, so the difference in schedules between them is relevant.

Factor in a clusterf*** of OTLs and this is spot on.

No, it is an asinine course of scheduling - as detailed above. Possibly the most ridiculous professional schedule I have ever seen in any sport. That’s the point of the thread.

Countering that no metro team can complain is ludicrous.

They should give the Flames, Oilers and Jets the most inconvenient calendar schedules. Not like attendance or viewership would drop. Not like there’s anything else to do in their home cities.

Didn't we start 2-0?
