Just wondering how badly NJ wants to get Schneider off their books, so thought about this trade: Campbell for Schneider and 1st round pick. Cory has two more years after this one at $6m, but he might be able to go on LTIR if he can't come back from hip issues. Gives LA another 1st round pick and, if Schneider isn't going on LTIR, a goalie to expose to Seattle.

It's not really a salary cap move for the Devils. One thing we have is a decent amount of cap space; A hypothetical June 2020 buyout of Schneider wouldn't be great (2 mil in dead cap for four years) but not exactly a big enough burden to fork over a 1st round pick. It's not the same situation with Toronto/Marleau since his cap hit was going to count no matter what.

For now, it's about letting Schneider get some playing time in the AHL to see if he can build his confidence back up. Last year he was struggling early (.852 sv%) but had a reasonable second half (.921 sv% over 17 games) albeit he still didn't look quite right.

He later corrected it , but for a minute, I thought it was Adrian, not Mario. Sloppy tweeting by him including LA in the tweet, instead of Ontario.

that's honestly pretty irresponsible for his job

as usual in the twitter generation you have to be the first to break it rather than being professional

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't realize there was a second Kempe in the organization; Friedman's probably on morning cruise control with relaying in the info. When Alex Lintuniemi got put on unconditional waivers, Friedman also listed it as Carolina rather than Charlotte.

I think usually he lists the organization the player is with (LA, Carolina) not the team they are actually on. Just in the case there were two Kempe's.

Nothing to get my underwear in a bunch about

Doesn't surprise me about kempe, I was on the same flight as them LAX to DEN a couple weeks ago, and most of the guys were grouped/buddied up and Mario was off down his own thing. Sat by himself, walked separately from the rest of the group.

Also, didn't realize Stothers was such a tall dude.

So does he have another bonus due next year or not? I've heard both.

Going over his contract details on capfriendly.com, it appears that all bonuses owed to Kovalchuk will be paid off on December 15, and the remaining money owed to him next season will be $4.25M.

His cap hit will still remain at $6.25M, however, with the Kings having so much cap room, retaining a portion of his contract and/or taking on another undesirable contract is something the team could afford to do.

That's my understanding of his situation.

Thanks, for some reason I thought his actual salary in his last year was lower. Bummer.

Dean revealed that he would watch clips of Top Gun with Carter to pump him up before big games or when he thought JC needed a boost.

Guaranteed it was the volleyball scene that got them pumped up the most.

Awhile back, Amazon put up a bunch of albums for free download to entice people to download their music app. The Top Gun soundtrack was among the offerings. So occasionally I'll put the app on shuffle as I try to drift off to sleep and if that song comes on, I always get a shot of adrenaline and an insatiable urge to play volleyball.

Brown last 16 games: 1 goal, 3 assists. ..and that's with 19 minutes of ice and first line. Think this is the beginning of the end...not the end...the beginning of the end. The end could be a 1+ year thing.
