Sweden was overwhelmed by the moment hence their undisciplined play and that same mentality lead to their captain throwing his medal into the stands. Leader of the team couldn't remain composed.

Are you talking about Lias Andersson, our great captain and perhaps the future captain of New York Rangers, a guy hating to loose more than everything?

I forgive him for being mad about not winning but of course he went over the limit.

Yes I am. Sweden played an undisciplined game. Their captain should be able to hold it together more than anyone, throwing medals isn't showing leadership. That same lack of composure is what lead to all the penalties and it clearly started from the top.

Hey do you think they'll start to put netting around the whole rink to protect fans from flying silver medals?.

2-11 in gold medal games. Ouch! That explains the salt.

Compare the amount of hockey players in Sweden vs Canada. The fact you can't win without referee help is embarrassing

That's not a "fact" that's an opinion of some salty fans trying to make themselves feel better about losing yet again.

Who cares about some tweets? Fact is Sweden played undisciplined, their captain couldn't even show discipline in a medal ceremony. I think they are directly related.

Jesus somehow this thread has gotten even more pathetic since last night. I think some people really need to learn how to lose with a bit of class and grace. Just accept the lose and move on. Sweden played one hell of a game and it really could have gone either way but some of the crying and complaining from certain people is just ridiculous.

im not swedish. and what with your embarrassing cheating mentality?
When you talk like that you sound like you’ve never watched a hockey game before. The only people who waste time complaining about the refs tend to be hockey noobs who have very little understanding of the sport. What are you like 12 years old or something? Either that or you’re just an idiot.

I'm not sure what to make of it. On one hand, I like a guy who only wants to win....but I also think this reeks a bit of iGen, social media mentality.

Sweden was uncharacteristically undisciplined and Canada wasn't. Bottom line. You can't hit and impede players who don't have the puck. It will be called every time. Also, as good as Sweden played possession-wise, they failed to score in 50 minutes of 5-on-5 time. You can blame the refs all you want, but that's on Sweden, no one else.

You can throw the medal away after leaving the ice. Throwing it just after receiving it just makes you look like a naive kid

To me it's simple really. It is the right mentality to have channeled the wrong way. Hating to lose that much isn't a bad thing but he shouldn't have thrown the medal in the crowd. He is a kid though. I am sure someone will sit him down once he has gotten over this and tell him why he really shouldn't have done that. I just think some of the things being said about an 18 year old doing something in probably the most emotional moment in his life is kind of crazy lol he shouldn't have done it but I think 18 year olds doing stuff they shouldn't is kind of part of being 18.

I made a point of remembering this.

You were wrong.

Correct, jj cale. My grande vision failed but even in the deepest and wisest prophecies there lurks always the seed of uncertainty and self-destruction. (That's why a clever clear-voyance is always vague and generic like "He will come and save you one day!")

My vision came as if with a ceteris paribus condition; only these conditions were also just vague and inexplicit begging the question of authority of my claim. Devil was also once again in details of the emerging big picture and these details were not visible and sharp enough for me beforehand: the home advantage (crowd), the drive, energy, will and persistence of Team Canada, Hart's superb netminding ability - and, yes, also the refs willingness to send poor Swedes into the penalty box one after another like no tomorrow, finally exhausting them.

So, this prophetic experiment of mine was a lesson in the virtues of non-fanatic objectivity, reasonable scepticism, open-minded rationalism and fallibility of any prophecy, model or even theory.

Or then - the jinx is REAL. :D

Congrats, Canadians and Team Canada. What a helluva TEAM!

Give USA respect for their game, they stand up, didn't see a dive from them all tournament, even against Swedes when they got behind. Nucks need to learn how to win fair.

Try to keep your trolling believable bud or Volodya won't sign off on your pay slip

English is not my first language sorry haha. I mean why would he need to show class here? So you think players should just not care about losing ?
I was always taught that it was perfectly acceptable to hate losing, but it wasn't acceptable to not accept losing.

Doing something after the game is over won't change the result. Play hard till the end and even if you think you got jobbed, when the clock hits zeros you have a responsibility to suck it up even as it burns.

Exactly. Some people have REAL problems in their lifes and this kid acts like a buffoon after losing a game, the captain of the team. It's okay to be emotional after a loss but don't be tasteless.

I'd be embarrased if my countryman acted in such a fashion.
