Congratulations Canada. You deserved this one and were the better team.
Finally we got to watch a tense and exciting game after a rather boring tournament.

Regarding the refs I dont think any of the calls against us were that bad to be honest, there was one or two non-calls against Canada that maybe should have been a penalty, but come on this was not on the refs.

I thought it was a great game, both teams players can be happy about there play.

The reffing was as expected pretty one way, but thats how it is.

Can you provide an example of a Canadian throwing their medal into the stands? Otherwise I don't see what you are getting at.
Did you not understand his post at all?

In the past, if Canada lost, they took their medal.
The Swedish player (Lias) threw his because he came for gold, he didn't win gold, he wanted no part of the consolation prize.

People can see it two ways.

1. He's a competitor, he leaves it all on the ice to win and that's where his bar is set.
2. He's a sore loser.

Usually people that want to hate on someone for the sake of hating will pick #2, it's mostly #1. Kid came to win, I can see why some would say there is a bias with the officiating, but it's whatever.

Do you get it now.

Nice win by Canada they did it. Been awhile but we all know the best players under 20 are in the NHL.

As a swede the ref bias was abysmal, the kyrou penalty was a clear dive and karma fixed that. The rest was obvious penalties, to say Canada was a team without superstars is also a lie, maybe by canadian margins but compared to the rest of the teams standards Canada is always bringing a team which is favorite to win gold, the wide range of players to select from is lightyears from anyone else

This game was yet another example of how difficult it is to win against Canada in the international tournaments. You sort of need to blow them out of the water, because in a close game usually the reffing advantage is just too much, like in this particular game. Even though Canada didn't convert their PP time, they still maintained control of a game they would have have great chance of losing if the calls were made on an equal and honest basis.

It's sort like in Boxing and MMA, " you have to BEAT the champ to be the champ," and Canada is always "the Champ" regardless of wheter or not they actually won the last tournament. In a close game the advantage usually is too much to beat.

I get where you are coming from. It is frustrating when you want an outcome and it doesn't go your way. Canada took nine penalties against Finland in the 2016 QF loss, it felt like some were soft calls, but on reflection afterwards the only reasonable conclusion was that they did it to themselves with a lack of discipline. (Or maybe the refs just didn't get the memo that year? /s)

Review the game, identify the worst examples specifically. The fact is the refs got it mostly right, and the mistakes went both ways, no reason to claim bias. But seriously let's go through the exercise. I've rewatched the main points of contention (and most of the game) and I don't think you have a leg to stand on.

So that guy has more heart than any player that didn't win gold ever has? Of all time? Or he had a lil tantrum? I know where my money is going.

Respect right back to Sweden. Some of the best players to play in the NHL are from Sweden. To clarify i live in Alberta,Canada almost every kid plays hockey. Canada is the hockey capital of the world.

Canada isn't the hockey Capital of the World. Canada loves hockey more than any other sport in the world, but you should stop at that.

I was born and raised in the US and UK and live in Canada.

In the semis the Swedes had twice as many penalties as the flopping Americans. Did not bother watching this since its in the middle of the night and already knew the Candian embelleshing and weak reffing would decide it.

And why does a highly skilled, puck possesion dominating team whit a deadly power play get more than twice as many penalties than the feisty, physical Americans (CAN and the US) ? Think about it , its fishy, just wrong in every way

You didnt even watch the game but felt the need to comment about the reffing? Pretty hypocritical.

The reason Sweden got called for more penalties os because they took some obvious, stupid, undisciplined penalties.

No canadian player stuck his leg and hip out to check/trip a Swede when they didnt have the puck.

No canadian player launched himself into the ice and took out a Swedish players feet while they were in a prime scoring chance.

Oh but canada did have a goal disallowed from a ref mistake. Did you know that? That doesn't fit in with your agenda though, does it?

Exactly. Penalties were fair, undisciplined kids. Proof is in the pudding and how their captain reacted when given the penalty. He would be crucified if he was Canadian. Not acceptable in our society
