Did you want all the players to get equal ice time as well. When has hockey ever worked this way?

Holy crap, it was almost 19 years ago to the day:
WJC would have more value if it wasn't hosted in Canada every other year.I'd say on par with world champs, but otherwise I agree. It's just I'm a bit salty about 14 and 16 champs been downplayed. (while on the 5 year streak it was the most important thing ever...especially when canada sucked in torino olympics)
My memory is long, grrrr
And Canadian fans could complain they had a goal taken away with an overly horny whistle call. can you 100% empathize with that also?
I mean so what?........................we could all do this almost every game.
The thing to notice about all this non stop bull**** about reffing is that if you look it is ALWAYS the same group of guys who ALWAYS do the complaining and ALWAYS blame their losses on reffing. i mean...........in every ****in game, heck they even complain half the time when they win by 3 goals.
It's these same guys EVERY freakin time, that should say all you need to know about how reffing is handled around these parts.
Canada won, the game is bagged and tagged, it's over and they deserved to win.
Let them enjoy it and move on.

attendance is a good thingWJC would have more value if it wasn't hosted in Canada every other year.
As a Leaf fan who had to get over Gretzky's high stick on Gilmour that wasn't called, I guess I have some empathy for Swedish fans who feel cheated.
It's fine to take the high road but if this game is in Europe and we got the wrong end of the penalty calls and had a chance to tie it up but had a non call broken stick end it... well I dare say we wouldn't see many "hats off to Sweden" comments.

I don't know about that. It looked like he tossed it in frustration. He didn't throw it in anger, he tossed it to a fan as if it was a puck or something similar. He seems (from all reports) to be a great leader and played through pain and injury for many games, leading by example. Rangers can be happy to have him. He said he didnt want a price for losing... We can argue with his point of view but i think all of us want players on our team who really wants to win.
I never said we don't have our fair contingent of these bozos either.
Bottom line, there is always this group of fans who NEVER can admit defeat happened on the up and up and if you look over the years at the gdts of the games it's always the same culprits.
It's ridiculous.
Im sure he was devastated but its doesnt to seem to be more than a gentle toss from the speed of it.I don't know about that. It looked like he tossed it in frustration.
Absolutely. He is a heck of a player. As a Rangers fan this tournament is the first time I really got to see him. I like him a ton, and tossing the medal is not some kind of scandal. It's an indication of how badly he wants to win and how much he cares as captain of his team.He didn't throw it in anger, he tossed it to a fan as if it was a puck or something similar. I generally agree with you.
Calls even out over a season and we know that in the game there is a sliding scale for penalties. Something in the first likely isn't something in the 3rd.
That's because Refing is a flow. Control the game but don't be a factor. GMs want to open it up but they don't want endless PPs and all that.
But this isn't a season. It's one game. We praise the "let them play mentality"
I think that's why the non call on the stick slash surprised me. Refs did award Canada some late PPs in the 3rd. Obvious penalties in the 1st. Maybe in the 3rd? Either way, they chose to call it. They chose not to let them play.
So the precedent was there. And that is such an obvious call, a broken stick with evidence and a turnover right away with an empty net, they could "even it up" and no one would question it.
They became a factor in this game. Deciding factor? Clearly can never know that.
Canadians care more about this tournament....Canadians aren't the only ones that care. It's like people didn't watch the most recent tournaments in Sweden and Finland. They weren't that long ago people. No it wouldn't. Canadians are the only ones that give 2 poops about this tournament. Europeans care more about the worlds in May.
Yeah, probably and he isnt whining about the refs or diving Canadians... just saying "no price for losing". Considering his age, he was very sportsmanlike in his unsportsmanlike behavior. =)He is getting singled out but quite a few took them off after being awarded. One of the coaches could be seen tucking his into his pocket.
Don't really need to pile on and call it poor sportsmanship.
Probably a sentiment across the bench and a reaction in the moment.
Ok Chief sounds good, thanks for coming out. Im not that one that is mad and insulting others that don't agree with me. Have a great night. So even when I bolded a short, simple text in simple words, in capital letters, in what I can assume is your first language, were you unable to read and understand the post properly. However, considering how you butcher the English language when you write, I cannot hold it against you. We can't be good at everything. It's fine.
That's true. Btw I really loved the WJC tournament in 2016No it wouldn't. Canadians are the only ones that give 2 poops about this tournament. Europeans care more about the worlds in May.
If you don't even know about the missed calls and when they even happened, why are you even arguing? For the 1574th time, it's not the Swedish penalties we're arguing here. Do I need to repeat that in caps and bolded?
I have no problems with the loss, it was a coin flip and Sweden had the better toss, they were the better team 5on5 and played excellent PK. Canada got the underdog toss in this game. I'm fine with that, it's hockey. I do however have a problem with the refs sloping the ice like that and having a different book for the teams.
