I wonder if Swayman and Oettinger staying out longer is an indication the decision has been made to go with Woll.

Russia has been a real nemesis of the US at this juncture of the tournament before. In both 2014 and 2015, it was Russia that knocked out some good American teams in the QF.

On paper the U.S. looks the stronger side, but I still have to go with Russia on this one. Russia has historically had the American's number in this tournament and they always seem to play their hardest against the U.S. On the other side of the coin this U.S. team has looked a little shaky at times and despite the win, the Finland game didn't actually leave me feeling too confident.

3-2, Russia wins it in a nail biter

*My wild card prediction is this game will be wrought with controversy as a controversial penalty call will lead to the deciding goal or there will be some more drama involving video review.

This Russian team is full of woodmen, and Bragin has had cement in his head this entire tournament.
USA 5, Russia 3

USA going with Woll again despite looking awful. No Brown for USA so they will be a man down at forward (move Hughes to forward? Not like he plays defense anyways )

Russia wins.

This is like picking between a tax audit and foot surgery. Let it be known I respect both nations as hockey superpowers, I just don't ever want either of them to win. Since that is not possible, I will go with the Americans because I have to pick a side. I do hope for a clean, injury-free game for these teenagers.

USA is essentially better at all aspects of the game but...

Russia always keeps it close. This will be tricky.

Should be an easy win for Russia but you never know what kind of effort they will bring, if they try Russia wins 5-1, if they decide to mail it in US in a shoot-out 5-4.
