I dont understand the decision to put Juolevi shooting the last shootout attempt. I thought Heiskanen would be 1 of the 5 but never Juolevi.

On the positive side, we can get Heiskanen and Tolvanen back earlier and they can take part of the club activities sooner and get prepared for Olympic tournament.

Heiskanen has to play well with HIFK now to get that spot. It's 50/50 if he will be in the Olympic team I'd say. I'm pretty sure Tolvanen will make it regardless of having hard time scoring this tournament.

Well that was it then, Finland has taken back to reality. Our offensive "quality" is to shoot a lot, always over and wide and of course hands made of wood when got an wide open net. What i'm most worried about is that we won't produce top end goaltenders anymore. This doesn't look good....

I honestly don't think the worse team won this game...sure Finland outshot them but many of those were not amazing scoring chances. This Finnish team has been overrated since the beginning of this tournament. Their defense was average at best, goaltending not very good, and Tolvanen coudn't score at an elite level. They looked kind of slow and didn't play well as a team. This Czech team has more elite scoring than Finland and it is not that big of a surprise they won considering several Czech teams that had the likes of Zadina and others won international tournaments at lower age groups.

I couldn't disagree more on the first sentence. Every team is giving its best and playing according to its ability. Even though the Czechs were under pressure almost the entire game they battled their way back twice against a strong Finland defense, not even mentioning our great goaltender! This requires a lot of team spirit and determination!

Would I have granted Finland the win? - Of course, they almost controlled the entire game!

Am I happy about the Czech win and did they deserve to win? - Of course!

Embarrassing is too strong a word IMO, but we did get outplayed badly. I liked our drive though, didn't give up even when the Finns were toying with us. Kořenář was great and we were very opportunistic with the few good moments we got.
Just hoping now that we can survive the semis without an embarrasing 6-0 or 7-0 result.

Totally agree about Valimaki.

But you must have had the wrong number for Juolevi - cause he was excellent. Especially today.

I didn't like Juolevi's game - I expected him to dominate this year in his D+2 tournament, I thought Joki was better. Valimaki showed skill but also seemed lost quite often. Heiskanen showed he has the tools, but I expected more offence. I doubt he gets another crack at this, he seems like he's not far from being an NHL player.

Tolvanen's shot is as ridiculous as advertised, bad puck luck today.

I would say KHL is higher level than WJC.

Tolvanen for sure isn't overrated. He created more than 3 elite scoring chances and he hit a crossbar himself. There's too many 'if' situations in this game that if gone right, Finland would have easily won by more than 3 goals. He didn't score at an elite level for whatever reason, but Puljujärvi didn't score one goal despite being the most dominant forward of his respective WJC showing a few years back.
It's looking like most hyped prospects for Finland never pan out in the WJC.

Now I am not saying that CZE didn't deserve this win. No. Korenar beat Luukkonen. With his eyes closed.
