When over 50% of the US doesn't even consider NHL a sport, I'd say you just "might" be mistaken.

Now, accept this, be humble, and move on - please.

50% of America is 165 million. My 'opinion' about the matter is about who is in the position to outnumber Canadians in the NHL, it's the Americans by a large margin.
You cannot imply that the American player base will only regress. There will be a time when Canadians aren't the leading playerbase in the NHL. I cannot fathom how this isn't even entertained as an idea anywhere by the Canadians.
