Prejudice towards people based on their nationality is text book xenophobia
The Russian Factor is not prejudice. It’s about the KHL being better than the AHL. It’s about Russia being so far away so that players aren’t so willing to make the move. It’s about the league having enough money to pay their players well. It’s not about Russians lmao it’s about the whole system and why less Russians make the move here. Buchnevich is my 2nd favorite player. How do I have prejudice against Russians? Really?

I agree, it’s like if some prospect was also a MLB prospect and there was a 50% chance he goes to play baseball instead. Being skeptical of drafting him doesn’t mean you have a vendetta against baseball players.

This coming from someone who always cheered for Russia in international hockey since I was a kid because I liked their jerseys and find their style of play the most exciting, and the fact I’m part Russian

Buchnevich and Panarin are two of my favorite players. Kravtsov (along with Miller) are my favorite prospects. But yea. I’m sooooooo prejudice against Russians.

I always thought the "Russian Factor" in terms of drafting concerns was more that Russians have the most attractive alternative professional league so there's always some measure of risk a player might not want to come over if they're already playing in the KHL, making good money, are comfortable etc.

exactly the Russian factor is their ability to play in another league at home and make real money. The Russian factor absolutely comes into play when comparing to playing for 70k in the AHL vs developing longer in Russia and getting paid real money. Aka the Kravtsov decision.

And then of course there being no transfer agreement. If you are under contract in The K you can’t just walk away to the NHL.

Kaprizov is getting paid in the K and not here where he should be.

I don’t think a guy who’s handle is Buchnevich89 is xenophobic like seriously guys lol you’re well aware of what he was talking about.

Then again I remember when some of the same people said I hated Sweden because I said lias Andersson couldn’t skate and Jesper Fast had hands of stone while I was working for a Swedish company and driving around a Volvo with a Zibanejad t shirt on lol

My favorite players and prospects as well, Miller is certainly a new age Russian defenseman; doesn't even have to be Russia. He's pulling the reverse Buch.
Hahaha xD yea I mentioned him because he’s Russian of course but also because I can’t decide between him and Kravtsov who my favorite is. So I can’t just say Kravtsov is my favorite.

You know what’s funny? I WANT these Russians to come over too. But nope, it HAS to be xenophobia. It must be!

When did I say the Russian factor meant that I had something against Russians? Look at my username...ffs...this place sometimes.
Well then you define the "Russian Factor" as something different than many, many people. It's generally used here alongside the "lazy Russian" label. When people say, he dropped because of "the Russian Factor", it usually means: he might not want to play here, he might be lazy, he might have poor work ethic, he might go home if he doesn't get his way. It's extremely unflattering. I mean, did you see the original post that led to the one you quoted?
I'd be on board to never draft another Russian in the first round again. Total headcases, the reward is not worth the risk.
You think that's talking about KHL players making more money than AHL players or some systemic issue? You know that is not what it is. "Headcases." It's all the bad stereotypes about Russian players. Come on.

Anyway, no one said you were a xenophobe, to my knowledge. People just criticized you for wrongly calling BRF a "drama queen" and then asking him if he knew what the Russian Factor is, when he clearly understands it the same way the vast majority of the rest of us (except @Kovalev27) understand it. Now you're being the drama queen, which is delicious irony.

Delicious irony? Not really. When I see “xenophobia everywhere” comments, and people responding to my comments not making it clear who they’re talking about, and bolding “the Russian Factor” when they say “that’s xenophobia,” and saying “the irony of that username,” then yes I assume they’re also talking to me.

I might have glanced over the original comment because I don’t agree with that, but I called BRF that because he usually is one. When people were talking about Lemieux and Domi’s sister back when we played Montreal, he was being a drama queen about it, and I assumed he was being one here. Maybe I’m wrong about calling him that here, but some people were 1000% talking about me as well and calling me a xenophobe.

Also, I know some people refer to more when they say The Russian Factor, but come on. Look at my username. I defend Buchnevich when people call him “lazy.” I defended the Kravtsov pick. I love Panarin.

So basically you just largely ignored what was actually going on, got confused, and decided to resort to name-calling one of our best posters. Got it.

Cool, which company?

To be fair, you said a lot more (and in a way stronger tone) than that about Fast and Andersson

Without going down a wild rabbit hole here, you don't have to be prejudiced against a certain group in order to make a xenophobic comment.

I think "The Russian Factor" to MOST people is code for the lazy Russian stereotype. Are the first two points you make about the KHL v AHL and Russian being far away valid points? Absolutely. But they aren't what most people think of when they hear The Russian Factor and I think that is why most people believed it was a xenophobic comment.

It’s like a reddit argument in here. Let’s get back to talking about kravtsov and how the ceo of Traktor said he was “dismantled” from his North America experience, which is why he was demoted to the VHL.

oh I sure did about Fast and Andersson not about the country they came from. That’s kind of the point. It was assumed I had an issue with Swedish People because I didn’t like a couple of Swedish players. No one would ever say I hate America if criticized American players. So it was silly. Especially when most knew my favorite player on the team was and is Zibanejad.

moral of my story is be nice to each other you post with the same guys everyday give the guy benefit of the doubt when you know what he meant ffs!

Sorry if I implied that you actually hate Swedes, for all of the push back I’ve given you, I don’t think I‘ve ever actually thought you did

Борис Видгоф: «Кравцов приехал разобранным из НХЛ»

Traktor ceo says kravtsov was “dismantled” upon returning from North America.

Can somebody translate this better or is that correct?

This is a correct translation. He said Kravtsov returned dismantled and disappointed (disillusioned) from North America. He could be correct in this assessment given what we know but otherwise I would not trust a word of what he says. Dismantling of Traktor due to some questionable and very shady signings are on him.

Back on topic though. What a friggen baby Bratsov turned out to be Jesus. Suck it up already. Got sent to the AHL not friggen Afghanistan

I hear “he’s one of our best posters” about different posters all the time. But yea I should have looked at the context and not called him that. Heat of the moment thing. Dumb move on my part. But my point still stands. Also, I apologize @Brooklyn Rangers Fan but I doubt it affected you in the first place. My bad.
