Count me in the group that believes that the moment he went back to the KHL, that team had already decided to move on from him and treated him like ****

I wonder that too, or at least with a new coach it wasn't like he was returning to a guy familiar with his play and who might give him some more leeway etc.

At any rate as I said I hope this is the best move for him and the Rangers help him succeed going forward

Don’t be ridiculous. Traktor was counting on Kravtsov big time. The new coach gave him lots of ice time early on. He just didn't perform, didnt seem to care.

I don’t think Kravtsov cared about hockey in his short return to Chelyabinsk. He came home broken and disillusioned. I think he used the experience as a means to step away from the fire, collect his thoughts and soul search in a safe environment.

This needed to happen. He needed to come back and get his game together over here. There is a high quality coaching staff in Hartford. He needs to learn playing on both sides of the puck. Learn what it takes to survive with the NA style game

Exactly. The childish games are over - I assume he realises this. Now is his chance (that he had all along) to go down to Hartford, learn to play the NA game, and earn a callup. Kid thought he was going to be given all that. Now he has to earn it. And that will make him a much better player, assuming he finally gets it.

The clear point here and should be evident to kravtsov that even if he isn't an inherantly had working player that a lot of career money is on the line if he doesn't give his all.

If he can't be lazy for 500k in the khl and have it work, no way he can do the same for 5 mil in the NHL.

This season reminds me a bit of Lias' first year.

The fact that he's shuffled around from being on the verge of making the team, to Hartford, to the KHL and now back to Hartford in the span of 12-13 weeks is ridiculous

Also he looks legitimately defeated in that team photo for Traktor. Like jesus

Served some good ol' Humble Pie and coming back with his hat in hands.

Now needs the confidence and tenacity to make it work in Hartford, one day at a time buddy.

Fact is, aside from Lias we really don't have any emergency F depth to call upon in case of a rash of injuries. We've seen over the last year or so the recently-waived Micheal Haley (who is still inexplicably on the team), Boo Nieves, Vinni Lettieri, Tim Gettinger, Greg McKegg, Stephen Fogarty...all get call-ups. McKegg is fine, but the rest blow. Kravtsov has a legit shot at being called up to New York this season. He just needs to be patient.

Enjoy Hartford, Vitaly. You'll be with Rykov and Igor and soon you guys will be in MSG. Just have some patience.

Conditioning stints are only allowed if the player agrees to it.

Conditioning stints only apply to players who are subject to waivers. The Rangers have the right to re-assign Kravtsov to the AHL at any time.

He needs to make a statement in Hartford. There's not much scoring there, Kravtsov needs to do what the coaching staff tells him to do and prove that he can use his skill to thrive in the system. It may take a couple of months, but he will back in the NHL.

I had a brief thought of whether they might keep him with the NHL team for a bit to practice with them and then send him to Hartford for some games. Just kind of "hey, watch the NHLers a bit, listen to what guys like Panarin and Buch have to tell you, see the kind of things they're practicing, and then go apply that in Hartford and we'll see how you're doing in a few weeks"

I don't think that would be a good strategy. The Rangers don't practice much this time of year and when they do it's generally to work on specific things (and the roster freeze is coming soon anyway). Kravtsov was assigned to Hartford because he couldn't keep up with the speed of the game in the NHL. He didn't do anything in Russia to suggest that this still wouldn't be a problem. He needs to get to Hartford and start acclimating to the game here. The faster he does that, the faster he gets called up.
