Good question. I'd also like to know when I would know which group the US will be in - Toronto or Montreal. I'd like to attend if the US is in Toronto but not so much Montreal.

Take a flight and buy tickets for the event next year in Helsinki.

It'll be cheaper then anything that occurs in Montreal/Toronto circus.

And it'll be insanely fun judging by the amount of people coming over from Canada/Usa and Europe.

Yeah It would be awesome but I'm living near Montreal so it's brighter for me to keep my money for next year

It wouldn't shock me if tickets to entire Montreal/Toronto cost as much as the entire Helsinki trip itself. I'm going to Helsinki and tickets/hotel were surprisingly cheap (well below what I figured).

I can't wait for this! Just seeing the crowds is going to be an event in itself.

You won't know what group the United States is in until the 2016 tournament is over. Thats because they put the teams in groups based on the results of the previous tournament.
I heard since Canada played their group games in Montreal last time, that they would play their group games in Toronto in 2017.
So if you want United States to play their group games in Toronto - hope they are in the same group as Canada.

Gotcha. Thanks for the information. Toronto is just so much closer to me in Cleveland.

For the record when the 2015 and 2017 WJC was originally announced, they said right away Canada was playing their group games in Montreal which was scheduled for 2015 and Toronto in 2017.

Don't know but I'd imagine soon, should be a fun event. Would love to see an event like this come to St.John's but I don't think we have big enough stadiums to host it.

Tickets for Helsinki went on sale in late April, so perhaps that's roughly when they'll go on sale next year for 2017?

I'd LOVE to see a town like St John's host it; that (relatively) small-town feel. Unfortunately, money talks and as long as Toronto/Montreal/Ottawa/Vancouver can host it, I doubt you'll see it outside of those venues (maybe Quebec, too?) anytime soon.

It probably wouldn't come regardless. WJC are a huge profit and no better way to maximize that profit than going to the big cities (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, etc).
