not sure what to make of Greenway and Brickley to be honest....both kids are pretty huge, but if we have to name them in the top 15, this looks like the best we have NHLer wise, and now the **** show begins until 1st round exits. I hope I am wrong on that as there are still plenty of names out there who have zero excuse not to come and are younger.

on another note, happy as hell to see DeKeyser here. These are the names we need to fill out a solid roster and with him coming on board we will have a legit top 4 as long as one of Leddy, Hanifin, or John Moore come...

Nope but Leddy and Martinez want to go Bahamas. What you can do.

Martinez would likely never make a USA roster for a best-on-best tournament anyway, but one day Leddy might, and at least in his case you can remind his agent that the USA has perhaps the deepest pool of defenseman it's ever had, and if he wants to ever make a roster for a best-on-best tournament he needs to put down the X-Box controller and play in the Worlds.

That's what you do.

It would be great if you got Matthews, Gaudreau, Tkachuk, and someone from NYR/MTL series up front. I say that it's not impossible at all. Imagine this:

Gaudreau - Matthews - Nelson
Larkin - Eichel - JT Miller
Lee - Bjugstad - Tkachuk
Dvorak - Compher - Copp
Greenway

I think they would dominate the european nations with this.

The addition of Greenway and Brickley tell me one of two things: (1) we still have too many NHL players turning down invitations; (2) the USA brass' goal might not be to build a winner, but to give young guys IIHF experience.

The same two issues we've been dealing with year after year. And the same two issues that have kept us from ever winning this tournament. My wife is from Slovakia. Do you know how hard it is this time of year to go to bed at night knowing her country has won the Worlds and my country hasn't?

Damn, it really looks that Ghost is not going to come. :( No contract, I know, but I still believed that he could come.

It's hard to blame anyone without a contract for the upcoming season to turn down the Worlds. IMO it's neck-and-neck with legitimate physical injury as the most valid excuse.

I still have to believe Eichel is coming. He missed a lot of hockey and has plenty of time to rest his ankle we need this kid in a perfect statement can be made if he shows up.

I do think it will be ironic that we will be relying on a number of Canadian-based teams for our American players as if you look at the rosters the likelihood of most of those Canada team in getting bounced early is more probable than not.

Alright USA hockey let's finally win one for PaulieVegas, do you see the kind of crap he has to deal with at night?

Slovakia...Slovakia for the love of God!

Pretty decent team so far. Hopefully Toronto, Calgary and Columbus get bounced in round 1 cause Matthews, Gaudreau and Tkachuk would accept invites imo. Only concern is C depth and top 4 defensemen. Trouba is the only one definitely on that level so far. DeKeyser is best as a third pairing D-man. Would be nice to get Werenski and Gardiner. Seems clear Eichel declined. Not too surprising. Hoped he would play but it happens

no Olympics coming up, younger players with heart, etc has played into it. There is a lot of terrorist issues going on in these countries as well, I am sure that is on the mind of some of these guys especially with families who would be bringing them...can't rule that out with some of these guys declining.

Hanifin and Keller added. Looking forward to seeing Keller some more. Really fun player to watch

Hanifin and Pesce (if he's added) did play together at times down the stretch, so there is some chemistry there.

It's too bad Faulk and Slavin passed. It would have been really interesting to see what kind of an impact an entire well-balanced NHL Top 4 could make in a short tournament.
