I think I understand Matthews, and if not for the rumors, seeing Kane at least seriously considering to go, is also a positive.
Matthews lists the reason Eichel had last year too. And Laine has a very similar reason this year. They are rookies. I can absolutely understand this and I'm pretty ok with it. I think it's safe to say that next time these players have the opportunity and are healthy, they will go.
Kane, I think it's a good thing he was considering it. Who knows, maybe he will say yes for some other tournament in the near future.
The thing I am angry about is Shannon (SN reporter). I am starting to think how much was Laughlin wrong when he thought Shannon had reported Doughty's accepting and calling HC himself, and how much it maybe was true what he heard. Shannon clearly himself stated that "hearing that Patrick Kane will quickly confirm he's going to the Worlds for USA." We now know that it hardly was true in exactly that sentense he put it in.
Solid team. I got too excited about it but still should acquit itself well. Probably not gold medal though
Don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but I went on the NHL Network's site, and their schedule is up through 5/08. They have WC games listed, generally at 10 and 2, and sometimes a game in the evening, although usually a repeat of one of the two early games. The first 3 USA games are included. So no NBCSN this year. God forbid a episode of Goal Zone would have to be pre-empted. Or a showing of Premiership rugby. I think this is great news, and makes sense since they have shown 3 other IIHF tourneys this year.
We won bronze with a far less team than this and if the last few names are pretty solid NHLers which we are all hoping they will be this team is definitely a gold-medal contender .
We honestly didn't have too many options for defense as Seth Jones and Jake Gardiner have played so many times in the last how many years in this tournament they probably wanted to take a break kind of stinks that it came down to those names as they have represented this tournament a lot.
Yeah but to win gold you have to beat two to three big boys. Not just one. Think it's unlikely for this squad.
There has been lot declines also in other countries this year. Sweden looks tough but i think this year is even more open than usually.
I'm curious if Gardiner was asked to play.
any update on the provisional roster? thx guys
He usually accepts
