Matthews, Gardiner, and JVR available. Matthews deserved to keep playing in the playoffs, so hopefully he's still keen on playing some hockey. This potential team...

Would be huge for this tournament if Matthews and Kane go and the team medals.

Hopefully it would help convince players to go in the future.

I feel that the US is going to make the gold-medal game for the first time since 1950. If we don't count the winter olympics, that counted as world championships too, that's the last time when the US ended up in the gold-medal game, and the last GOLD is from 1933. Both games against Canada btw. Even if we counted the Winter Olympics that counted as world championships, the last win is from 1960. Again with Canada.

Either way, enjoy this, because this is a tournament that is going to writte history. I don't believe Sweden or Russia could stop you. And no way they can stop you with Kane, Matthews, and others.

I predict the US will dominate its group in Cologne.

I still think USA should go with 14 forwards. Final additions should be Matthews, Kane, Jones, Gardiner and McAvoy.

My hope is that they come and set a new culture for USA hockey. Which is to say similar to Canada's revamped interest in this tournament.

Patrick Kane unlikely to play now. Not surprised. Shame after it was reported otherwise but once he didn't make his decision by the end of the weekend it seemed obvious he wasn't going to play. I'd like to see Coyle. Coyle, Atkinson and Matthews would be an ideal final 3 adds at forward

Why? What's the source of this information?

The US really in it to win it this time? Me like. Really raises the quality of the entire tournament.

Until it's official, I will wait. Anyway, if Kane indeed isn't going, I wonder how much of the Shannon's report that said "he will quickly confirm he's going" was actually true. It doesn't make much sense for Kane to be "sure" at one point, and then a few days later decide otherwse. Hopefully he will go.

After all this hype, I'm very disappointed if Kane doesn't accept invite.

Btw, John Shannon is the worst source ever.

Uh, shame. Need to admit that I was wrong. I thought 110% he would go.

Including the World Cup as well as Worlds last year, he's probably played close to 100 games in the last calendar year. I really don't blame him for declining the invite.
