WC: 2017 Team USA

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. we have likely 3 spots left to fill on defense- outside of Jones, Gardiner would have to be the other name to get. McAvoy I would love, but obviously not in the same league of those two yet.

I hope Trevor VanRiemsdyk isn't one of them, unless he goes because his bro JVR wants to come then I can live with that as TVR has been mediocre all year.

TVR would be a letdown.
 
Toronto down 3-2, Columbus eliminated and Montreal down 3-2. If TOR and MTL are eliminated, let's add Matthews, Gardiner, Jones, Petry and win gold
 
I'll be very interested to see if Trashill can get more offense out of Gaudreau that Gulutzan did.
 
Wow.. nice thing to see for future USA hockey. Add Matthews + into this... oh my... Kane probably wears the C too. Should be awesome!
 
With USAH inviting Atkinson, it makes me think they want to go with 15 forwards and 7 defensemen cause there's no way they don't have a spot saved for Auston. Assuming Kane is in(Seems like he is leaning strongly towards accepting based on his answers but not official yet) and Atkinson and Matthews agree if Toronto is eliminated, forward lines could look something like this:

Gaudreau-Matthews-Kane
Larkin-Eichel-Atkinson
Lee-Bjugstad-Nelson
Keller-Copp-Dvorak
Compher

This would probably be their best ever forward group at the worlds. Speed, high end goal scoring and playmaking. After years of seeing pedestrian at best rosters, we might get a team loaded with superstars and fringe stars. It's pretty fun

That second line looks a little fast. . .
 
I think Chris Kuc got yelled at by Wirtz and company as the Hawks are a very structured organization and they don't like bad optics of a player just eliminated announcing he will play in another tournament as if he isn't bothered by the loss. Kuc came out on local radio saying he heard as well Kane was going..I bet they told him to never do that again..Now this looks like a soap opera with Kaner unfortunately.
 
Realistically I'll take Jeff Petry out of the latest eliminations. Obviously would take Ryan Suter but I'm realistic.

Wouldn't really be super mad if Justin Braun comes either.
 
Wait for Matthews. It doesn't make sense to take Coyle or Galchenyuk when Toronto is one game from being eliminated.

Yep. Other than Jones and Atkinson as they already have invites, the only guy available right now that should have an immediate invite is Suter. Let the first round play out and then fill the last couple of spots with the best players that are interested in playing.
 
Hmmm the Goal tending for USA seems a bit underwhelming. Were Jonathan Quick or Cory Schneider unavailable?

US goaltending will be fine, Jimmy Howard was solid on a bad team this season! He had some of the best numbers in the league. Quick and Schneider never go to this tournament.
